About 9 months ago car would on occassion rev up to 5-7k revs when started, whether warm or cold, then drop back down to normal iddling revs. Had throttle linkages lubricated and this seemed to sort it. when this started happening again intermitently a few weeks ago i once again had the throttle body lubricated, but hasnt seemed to completely sort it, any ideas please? If it is cable operated, the cable probably needs lubrication too.

For the engine to rev up to 5-7k the throttle must be wide open.

This needs investigation before engine damage ensues.

your throttle valve jammed up a bit ?
