Hello

I am looking to take SWMBO away next Friday night.

So I am looking for a country hotel (middle of nowhere) and being November, it must have a big fire roaring up the chimney and serve great food.

Location wise I am looking for somewhere not too far from home in South Lincs so that means the East Midlands, Yorkshire, North Norfolk and of course Lincolnshire itself.

I am looking for cosy and welcoming rather than modern and slick (which is what we normally stay in) so any suggestions welcomed.

Thanks.

How about an Inn Keepers Lodge? Good value too.

Mr and Mrs Smith is the first place I tend to look for this kind of thing. Unfortunately they are a bit far South for you but I can recommend Cowley Manor (Cheltenham area) and Tuddenham Mill (Suffolk, not a long way from Ely)

Join groupon and have a look what's on offer in your area they have some great deals ( I don't work for them )

You could try THIS place. Olde worlde, history of Knights Templar's roaming from the 11th century chapel, lovely aspect and gardens, with roaming peacocks, steam trains 5 minutes walk away, country park close by, plenty of countryside, the food is pretty reasonable.
I might describe it as slightly tired, but comfortable.

Lucky you ;).

First time we have had someone to look after Sam for over a year so it would be mad to pass up the opportunity.

The thing is I know loads of hotels all over the UK that would fit the bill that I have stayed in for business over the years but of course I never stay in hotels close to home and as I can't get away until 5pm on Friday night due to work commitments a long journey is out of the question hence being a bit lost on this.

No roaring fire in the bedrooms, but a nice place to stay with a great menu and wine list.

I haven't been here, but know a couple of people who have and they loved it.
They will bring you dinner in the bedroom etc.

Friend stayed in the Red Room and they loved it, really cosy and total chill out couple of days.
