Asside from the obvious facelift, do you notice much difference between pre and post facelift 211?

No problems with the newer one so far, most of the interior is still the same, steering wheel and gear lever has more updated look, the surround around the gear lever is wood instead of metal in the pre facelift, and the climate controls are slightly different too, and the tilt for the seat base is electric rather than manual (if you have the partial electric seats).

Better designed wing mirrors, instead of the old ones where the wires kept breaking. Also obviously has the V6 engine, with the seven speed box, quieter and smoother, sounds less tractor like especially when starting. No SBC too so brakes have progressively more feel as you brake harder.

The ride and handling seems more taut or firm or composed (not sure how to describe it, but it seems "neater") and less wallowy but it does have 17inch alloys over the 16 inch of the prefacelift.

There's probably other minor differences I can't think of right now, but probably will when I get back in the car!

W212, E250 CDI Sport, silver, pan. roof, leather & Comand delivered new yesterday.

So much different to the W211 220 CDI to drive. :thumb:

Had no idea that Linguatronic came with it, nice bonus.

I wonder if a poll in 10 years time would show as many W211s compared with the number of W124s in the current poll.

Yep, 220cdi engines can do over 400k miles, like a 300D 124 can, 5spd box's are tough.

V6 and 7g too new but reports of 200k + car bodes well.

Electricals will let the car down, and the more basic cars probably the most durable.

Mines a white 210,although its neither an estate or an update :)

im thinking a white 210 update with some white brabus monos would look tighter than a pair of 6's

Now got a W124 300TE 4Matic , the poor old 280SE bit the dust!!

Another interesting poll would be how many are saloons and how many estates...oh yes, and coupes and cabs of course!! :)

Mines an....... estate! :D

Barry, always wondered, what engine you have?

had most, w123 t's and saloon 230e's/280's. w210, e320cdi/e220cdi and w211 220cdi.. drove a w212 220 bluetech for 1 week. Now have w124 e500 to tinker with. i have to say, apart from my 124 e500, w212 is much improved from all the rest in terms of build quality and interior space.

my daily car is a w221 s350L and while under warranty i became a regular at the main dealer for warranty work. in total it's been back 26times . and now, thankfully it's company car, i'm still visiting on a regular basis. i won't bore u with the items that it goes in for but it can't keep away from the workshop in between service.

so only 22 w210 owners, i suppose 211's are quite cheap these days...theres something about the look of a 210 i have always loved since i was a kid i always wanted one.. my dream car lol

I've have a number of 211 E class cars, mostly in working clothes, i.e. estates.
My current one is wearing a party frock and they gave it a 219 label;)
Does that still count?:dk:

My view is that W210 was a big flop after the quality standard set with W124, so that's why people either drive the old model, i.e. W124, or the newer W211, which seems to be doing well nowadays.

Although I do not own a 212 I am in possession of one, can that add to the 212 tally.

ok well i have done over 2 years driving in mine its never broke down, its had silly little problems but seriously..never let me down and i have done some serious mileage in it, have you had a long term 210?

but thinking about it most of the cars have the same engines, 209 240, 211 240 ect.and its hardly ever the engines fault thats lets it down although i will never have a I4 mercedes again its a great engine just not smooth enough. i have driven a 211 and i must say it feels a lot lighter than a 210.. but after the money i have spent on my 210s suspension it rides like a brand new car.

so how many 210 E class's where sold in its run.

Had 6 or 7 124s, no W210's am now on my second W211 the first a saloon, this one is the Estate, both 320 CDI's....fantastic cars IMHO

hey blackman how the FU** have you got a 1998 w124.??? i thaught even 95 124s where hard to come by

we did have a w123, w124, w210, w211 all estates, w210 being Sh*te and the rest absalutely brilliant!

I am in no doubt the w212 estate will be sat with us in the next year or so. But for now the W221 will do
