How much do you pay for insurance

Amazing and annoying, after a short phone call i just got £105 off my renewal quote, why do they try extracting the urine. Hastings all singing and dancing policy now £525, thats only an increase of £20 so well happy.

Had protected insurance for 3 years with Saga, full comp, their top flight insurance at just under 300 quid. By "protected" I mean the amount stayed the same as long as there were no changes to our circumstances. It ends in about , just under 4 weeks - new quote almost 800 - my excess
is 500 total. One minor accident, hit and round by uninsured driver, cosmetic damage, I did tell ins but not requiring repair as I will hand polish it out/

Arriva, like for like about 700

I will call Saga today - for better price may move to one tier below their top insurance and not have the three year protect amount

We live in greater London, crime rate is better than most of London - car parked on drive - decent location - full clean licence and over 30 years NCD etc etc and never had a point on my licence not mrs - joint insurance we are both early 60's, retired
SAGA was ridiculous after the 1st year for me and to insure the SL500 for dad was over £2k never had an accident in his life so its time to sell it all insurance seem to pluck a figure out the sky atm just because we have to have it

Thanks. I shopped around and at the time, ie alsmot 3 yrs ago - Saga came up with almost the best price and their top tier insurance. I've never gone for little-known insurance groups etc. So for 3 years, my gle ins in London fully comp with Mrs as the add driver
Previously I've/we've used Direct-line, Aviva for cars and house and rentals, LV and one year, Tesco but I cant recall if it was car or property insurance.

Sorry, wrong thread.

Just got renewal £324 with 3 points and 15+ years NCB

Well it is that time of the year that I start looking for car insurance ,there is still 3 weeks left before I have to buy,I wondered if news that car insurance would be cheaper this year was just newspaper talk, well after looking at three comparison sights I have a quote that is £44 cheaper than last year, will sample a few more before I decide but its looking positive.

Well it seems some are getting lower quotes, one thing I noticed was some cheap results had a large excess, now I found my new cover from Confused .com now they will pay the £250 excess if you have a accident,as that is what I put in when looking that suited me and I chose a Hastings insurance,I would suggest you look at U Switch and put the same details in and when they display all the quotes you have look at the excess ,my insurance with Hastings which in real terms has a £45 excess after you take the £250 Confused .com are offering on the U Switch site the excess was £495

C270 CDI (W203)

Retired 60+ Social Domestic and Pleasure excl. Commuting
Comprehensive
20+ Years NCB (Protected)
7000 miles PA
Compulsory Excess £50
Voluntary Excess £100
Windscreen Excess £65
Including Breakdown Cover (Roadside & Recovery)
Self and 1 named driver
Garaged at night

£385

I would advise anyone who has their vehicles insured for themselves only to drive, to include a second driver (brother/sister etc) when next getting quotes. Obviously someone with a clean driving history is better. As far as I am aware they don't need to live at the same address. It's surprising how much it reduces the premium by.
I'm glad read this as I vaguely heard about it and my better half definitely is the 'better' for NCB, etc
Thanks

It's a trick far too many people miss and end up paying more than necessary.
Always get a quote with and without your spouse if they drive.
It can make a considerable difference.

Yeah always do this even though the wife would never want to drive my car. Makes a big difference 👌

Managed to get my C63 insured today for a reasonable £457. Cheaper than last year by £150 so really pleased. I could have got it insured for £370 but went for a policy that offered all the extras.

A C63 in Staffs. - Are you sure that you did not miss a zero off from the end of that price...

I thought that the the posh ends of Staffs. were Cheshire and Worcestershire ;)
Well I’m completely the opposite side to that so definitely not in the posh end 🤣 must be a good price for someone living a few miles out of picturesque Wolverhampton 🤔😁

Renewal was -£100 this year. £250.

Had to change providers though as my current provider (that I've been with for 3 years with zero incidents) could only do £550!
