since paying 400+ for my last service in a merc dealership...i only just realised that i was totally ripped off and i've jst discovered the wonderful world of independant specialists, which im guessing should save me at least some cash.

but i just want to know how much ROUGHLY (since obviously prices are competitive, im just after an estimate), would i be looking to pay for a B Service from an independent specialist?

i live in the north west wales, so i am considering either

mb motors ltd (deeside)
or
response motors (wigan)

does there happen to be any other specialist which are good on service and price? i travel to manchester, chester, liverpool, wigan all the time...so distance is not much of a problem. (as long as its around the north west area lol)

thanks guys :D

oh btw, my car is a 2001 c-class sport-coupe c180 (2.0 - cylinder), its the non-kompressor model

Your car is therefore probably over 4yrs old so most dealerships offer a discount on 4ys plus. I recently had a B service carried out on my 2001 C 180 which cost circa £250 at a main dealership!

mercedes service offer

i have just found this link to an offer in which mercedes which are more than 3 years old are eligible for that discount you just mentioned.

has anybody on the forum used this before? as im just scared if there will be any 'catches' to this offer?

also, from a dealership. doesnt a mercedes b service already cost in excess of £400+?
so i wouldnt even be saving that much? like about £40-£50?

but then again, can anybody tell me how much it would be for a b service from an independent merc specialist

hmmmmm......quotes are....for a B service on a merc c180-2001

£260 from mb motors ltd (deeside)

£330 from mercedes manchester (dealership) but i also get a FREE MOT aswell

and £150 from response motors (wigan)

is it me or do the price from response motors seem to vary alot compared to the other two?
just making sure before i actually book it in for the service (response motors of course lol)

has anybody dealt with them before?

thanks

It is a scam.

10% discount off parts and labour? Only difference compared to an independant will be 1) M-B stamp 2) Main dealer who has 30 cars a day to get through will not do a job better than a good independant.

1. Get the customer in using a 'special offer'.
2. Quote an inflated service cost; deduct 10% to give impression of 'value'. 3. Add additional 'repair' costs as 'car is old and these things tend to go at this mileage'.
4. Send customer brochures of a squeeky new M-B (as they now have your details).
5. Eventually offer customer low PX on car :'it is old'.
6. Sell same car at inflated price: 'it has a full M-B history'.
