Has anyone got a dealer to turn off the passenger side airbag on a W202 (so that you can fit a child seat) - how much did they charge?

Cheers

do you need to put the seat in the front?

i would recomend you keep them in the back to be open and honest.

But on ebay, seats with transponders often come up if thats any good.

BMW wanted about£400 to turn it off in my daughters mini and another £400 to turn it back on again., let the kid stay at home I say.

Its not advisable to keep the child seat at the front and will be expensive having Stealer doing the job.

If you unpug the sensor under the seat that'll do it?

Id strongly advise against it though, never mess with the safety systems

Thanks but...

The rear is already full of child seat (!) and rear-facing seats are a better compromise with the size of this kid...!

Easiest and cheapest way is to disconnect the wiring behind the passenger airbag. Then measure the resistance of the airbag, buy a resistor of the same value, slot in place and presto, your airbag is disconnected and you have no warning light to worry about!

But when you do disconnect the aiirbag do not turn the car on as you will have th SRS light on permanently until you reset the system on diagnostics.

I believe its 3.3 ohm ½watt will do.
