How much would you pay for one of these?

I saw one of these yesterday (a white one), looked quite cute with the alloys and twin exhausts

Had no idea what it was, so did a bit of Googling. To save you the trouble it's a Microcar M.GO F8 Sport. 2 cylinder 500cc engine, 21 bhp, 65 mpg. Couldn't find any quoted 0-62 or top speed ... read into that what you will :D

And the price? £12,199

OK the F8 Sport is a special edition, but the normal M.Go is still £11,799. This seems a huge amount of money when you can get a Smart from about £9k ... it's not even far off the price of an Audi A1! Or am I missing something :dk:

Microcar UK - A new way to drive

On the face of it, it doesn't seem to offer anything different to other OEMs.

Offer 100mpg, 2+2 seating, 250 mile range for £10k, then you'll get people away from mainstream OEMs.

Grace, space, and pace? Who do I call first - trade descriptions or Jaguar's legal department? Ugly, cramped and slow, more like..

Bloody quadricycle is what it is.. that might be fine for the French, think it is driveable at 16, but who would want one over here?

Cheers,

Gaz

Good luck in an accident with anything other than a bike !

Incidentally the one I saw was RHD (to my surprise).

"With bold styling, smooth lines, caressing curves M.GO immediately puts you at ease, completely in keeping with today’s thinking - contemporary, with just the right blend of restraint, M.GO perfectly masters the art of seduction." What piffle!

Just who do you think is fooling whom? With advertising copy of such an execrable standard, it appears to be guaranteed, nay... mandatory, that it is an excessively expensive and utter dog. To my mind it is a worthless product with a limited market. Clearly, the designers were not thinking BIG, whatever else they were thinking. (if anything at all)

"The feel good factor is enormous with subtle and spacious open plan driving comfort" I cannot even parse that statement. Nor can I determine how one may apply it to a rabbit hutch on wheels.

"Refinement and serenity" Pure hyperbole methinks. "A true original with an impeccable pedigree - quality, versatility, charm and elegance"

Lombardini 505cc 21bhp liquid-cooled petrol twin cylinder engine. The company has been making diesel engines for over 80 years.
The only liquid-cooled petrol engine that could be anywhere near right for the vehicle is this one and that seems to be it. It makes me think that the claim for an impeccable pedigree is somewhat exaggerated.

Expensive tat; with no real purpose other than to induce guilt about being responsible for a natural phenomenon (global warming... oops a now defunct term... I meant to say climate change) in its potential audience. I vote that the Top Gear team are given one each and made to drive from Paris to Dakar, to test the claims of the manufacturer. I see Clarkson and his team as thoroughly responsible and I have no doubt they will be very interested in such a silly but 'green' vehicle . :D

More like How much would they pay me to drive one of those

Sold by the Ducati dealers in Alton, I kid you not.

Why? You can drive them on a bike licence, just like the old 3 wheel Reliants. Not really the market that it would have been in the old days, I suspect.

Thse nasty little things are all over the place over here. They're LETHAL. If there's a line of slow moving traffic, one of these, piloted by an unqualified granny, is almost certainly at the front of it.

Modern Reliant Robin?

More like modern AC Invicar.

Good luck in an accident with anything other than a bike !

I would fancy my chances if I was walking across the road and that hit me...

I don't understand all of the abuse and scorn.

These cars may be of little interest to posters on this thread but people will buy them, just as they buy Smart cars, just as they will buy the new Renault quadricycle, and (eventually) they will buy this:

So, it may not be very pretty but smaller cars are the future of motoring.

Apart from nicking Jaguar's tag line, it seems a reasonable enough small car offering. As to the blurb on the website, it seems no worse than the rubbish on the MB site, or any other car site, fo that matter.

Have you bought one?

I agree to some extent, although 65 mpg doesn't sound that impressive (bearing in mind the size, weight, and tiny engine). And a £12k pricetag seems excessive, IMHO.

No. I wouldn't buy an M.GO because it doesn't move the goalposts forward (and is absurdly expensive).

But we had a Fiat 500 diesel until recently for local running around and I would buy a T27 (as in my pic above) in a heartbeat (as and when it becomes available). I can't imagine anything better for most of my motoring needs.
