How To Clean Your Mercedes Benz.PART 3-7 Stage Wash

a good Polish, is'nt that a little P.C.

:wallbash: Well done my son, no wonder you own the company. Mines next, and its a bloody mess.:thumb::D

Wow, just wow! and I thought I was good spending nearly 2 hours washing and (quick) waxing mine with Zymol titanium. Seems like I have been neglecting my car now :dk:
learnt a lot here especially the 2 bucket method, thanks :thumb:

Any pointers where to get your materials from? I still have a fair bit of zymol left but am interested in the washing products along with the grit bucket.

Looking forward to some sunshine so I can spend a good half a day washing and protecting. I only got my car late november and quickly threw on the zymol to protect it through the winter, also applying a second coat after a wash the other week (I got halted when the hose pipe to the jet washer froze solid!).

Another question, how and do you use the clay?? do you rub it on the paintwork?

Hi there bud.Yes the best buckets for the best price are the chemicalguy buckets with grit guards. They will last forever if you dont throw them!lol

Grit guard buckets-
The finest car care and automotive detailing products available.

Then my personal choices for good quality shampoo:
Swissvax UK - Wash Products

- Dodo Juice - Born to be Mild Shampoo 500ml Elite Car Care

Regards to the clay mark the block out into 5-6 sections and cut a section off when you want to use it.Run the section under a warm tap and flatten out. Then spray alot of detailer onto the paint so that its well lubricated. Then rub the clay over the car turning occasionally.Once you have done all the paint, clay the windows and then the wheels if you want. All with the same piece.NOTE:You will only need to clay your car every 6 months, more then this is uneccesary.

Cheers:thumb: Michael

do you not get pulled for your number plate?

No not yet, ive even spoke to police before and theyve ask me what its suppose to say, and then they dont even ask me to make then correct. To be far the police where i live arnt that ****.there the correct size and lettering, just shifted across, so so far there not that bothered. To be far i think it helps that i drive a mercedes and not boy racer car of such so it goes unnoticed!

Would be interested to know about the spray bottles also. Do you just have one spray nozzle that you use on the different bottles or do you have to buy the bottles with the spray nozzles? just trying to find them on the internet.....

the spray bottle's all come with chemical proof nozzles as standard. The best ones for the cheapest money are these:

- Elite Handi Dilute Bottle & Spray Head Elite Car Care

I can assure you they are high quality, and the best thing with this deal you can foamer heads for the same price just ask to swap which are perfect for you leather shampoo's etc.

Hope this helps Micahel:thumb:

Thanks for this - I do the snow foam and the twin buckets, and then also bilberry (which makes your neighbours think you're weird, as it comes out bright pink and stinks of.. bilberrys) and then if she's been good some Megs stuff - good to see all the stages laid out like this though, detailingworld can be a bit intimidating for us amateurs :D

Poorboys Wheel Sealant is a good investment as once you've used it once brake dust just runs off with the bilberry.

Good tip is to rinse finally with no hose attachment, as the weight of the water will pull most of it off rather than leaving spray droplets everywhere.

Nice car, interesting stuff, cheers :thumb:

Yes poor boys is good, but i have one that is heat proof sealent which is perfect for wheels as the break heat wont let the sealent disintegrate, so its durability is amazing. As for having droplets let making it longer to dry i have this, as it dries a s-class size car in 8 mins without a drop in any groove, wing mirrir or grille, and stoping the worry of further scaratching up the paint with a drying towel:THIS IS THE FUTURE OF AUTOMOTIVE AND MARINE DRYING:

Aeolus Hercules TD-900X Double Motor Blaster Dryer

I also notice you have a machine polishing section that hasnt been used in a while. There i have put correct information on machine polishing as some of the info in there isnt quite up to scratch,When the detailing room is ready to use i will put some sticky's in there with good genuine advice!

blimey thats good work...

Im afraid I havent caught onto all this 'spending a day cleaning the car' mallarky.

My cars get a wash and a hand polish... and thats it..

I think if I did what you have done, someone would just crash into me...
i suffer from frequent experiences of sods law you see.

one thing I havent noticed is how you clean the chrome bits?
You might cringe, but I have an old tube of "autosol"? (think the name has changed now) but i had to use it on the chrome trim halfway down the doors the other week.
Looks like the winter road salts had attacked it and the shampoo I had wouldnt budge it. Am I ok using this?

I dont used autosol but its a great product.Remember if its been around for years and is still being sold, then you know its a good product that works well.Autosol does work very well!!

The trouble is :- is it chromed metal or chromed plastic?
Chromed plastic will not take being polished

I would have thought the door chrome trim was chromed plastic, i didnt rub too hard :p
the salt was attacking it and had bedded in.

Crome, or chromium, is always metal. The plastic alternative is just plastic with a shiny finish.

Edit: and Solvol Autosol is pretty abrasive, I've used it before on chrome and wouldn't again.

So had I for years and was fine!it should only make oxidated chrome better so I that's strange. I only stop using it as brilliant polishes brought out 3 stage polishing for compounding, refining, and protecting.if u have slot of polished metal I recommend them highly!

Also i find to get perfect results with wheels chrome trim and exhaust systems is use a dremel rotary tool to polished the metal. The results are amazing!

what do you suggest for a brand new car prior to use ?

Hi ther buddy. With our company and most detailist, we do what is called a new car detail. To be fair even when your car is brand new its covered in contaminants, oxidations and swirls due to:

-Storage
-delivery
-Inexperience delearship valeters

9/10 there valeters just wash car with sub-standard products and just have no idea resulting in a potential £50,000 car looking awful in the sun.It makes my blood boil!!lol!!

Best thing to do is check the car in bright sunlight, and inspect panel for panel. This sounds extreme, but if it was me paying brand new i would want everything to look brand new.If its covered in swirls dont be surprised, its normal for new cars to come from dealers like this beacause they dont really care.If you dont have a machine polisher, then the best swirl filling polish believe it or not is one of the most common polishes on the market.AG Super resin polish. Its the best polish on the market to fil swirls by hand. But when i get a new car detail to do its always about bringing it bk to true new form, and heavily protecting everything. If its protected from the start it will stay new. Also dont ever get pulled towards the dealership when they offer you a lifecoat that they say lasts for 5 years.Trust me they dont, and the products they use would cost you about £50.00 to by urself, and for some funny reason they charge customers in excess of £350.00.Its crazy, and this isnt even to have your car properly clean, this is just for the aplication.Quite amusing when i would charge £200 for a c class size car to do a complete exterior new car detail including 1 stage machine polishing and 3 coats of polish and 2 coats of sealents of some of the best products in the world.

But thats just me!lol
