Hi, this is my first post.

I've recently become a 'mini expert' on the boot (trunk) latch/lock on my recently aquired W203, after it became ill, and eventually needed replacing. It's not difficult, but would have been much easier had I known one or two things in advance. I didn't take pickies but will be happy to pen an explanation if anyone else has a similar problem......

Lovin my new motor.......:)

When you replaced the boot latch did you obtain the new part number which has a different number of pins. Thus you also need the new connector and the wiring diagram for the new boot lid connection.

OLD PINS----NEW PINS
------------------------
1---------------2
2---------------3
3---------------4

3 pin----------4 pin

New latch mechanism A170 750 00 85 or 01 85 with extra latches (884)
Connector 037 545 45 20

Yeah, local dealer had the latch in stock, but I had to wait for a couple of days for the tiny connector to arrive. Was a little surprised that I had to 're-wire' the thing myself, but it turned out to be quite straight forward. I didn't have a diagram but the guy (who was very helpful) explained as per your post and all is now fine. . . .

Help

Picked up this thread but it's 3 years old now so hope someone can help!. I have a C200 saloon and the boot is proving more and more difficult to close! i have to really slam it a number of times before the lock catches. Everything else is working fine (i.e key fob open, driver door button, handle). Is there an adjustment or is it a new lock mechanism, and any tips how to do this?

Thanks

Darren.
