How was the Datford Crossing this morning ?

Still delays and very slow.

I waited 2 weeks to cross as everytime I got to the tunnel turn off on the A2 there were massive delays so didn't bother, not fun to use if its for a leisure trip even worse if you have to use it for work etc.

1) that will be quite a good revenue earner for them

2) They close the tunnel when they escort the petrol tankers through in a convoy. I have been there at the same time and people start hooting their horns in anger. It is for the safety of users and personally I would rather wait than drive behind thousands of litres of highly flammable liquid in a tunnel.

Or to prevent traffic sitting inside the tunnel creating fumes.

There is a sneaky little route through Dartford from the A2 roundabout that exits right at the tunnel where you even now have your own lanes and barriers.

Yup I have used that many times also on the lower road and turn left before MB at Dartford and cut out all the traffic on the A2 to tunnel but it still grid locked and not moving.

Wow, 'no barriers' really haven't improved the situation have they...

Wait when the Woolwich ferry is closed and the new bridge takes over that's a toll bridge as well traffic will increase as will pollution
I suppose the Blackwall tunnel will have a toll on it soon !!!

I used the original tunnel the week that it opened. Two way traffic in one tunnel, half a crown (two shillings and six old pence) and one ticket free if you bought a book of ten and no queues!
Hey ho!

Yup, we used to use it every few weeks on Sundays to get to Brandysnatch, back then they didn't charge for towing a trailer either!

It was never as bad as it is now........ahhh progress :D

Good news.... They don't now.

Do they not? I thought you got charged for trailers/caravans?

Well at least somethings not changed, they missed that one! :D
