Remove your existing rubbers and check the numbers

Park - If 124 427 03 82 then buy 230 430 00 84
Brake - If 123 291 00 82 then buy 170 290 01 82
Gas - If 129 301 03 82 then buy 170 300 00 04

If gas pedal is wrong you can adapt by : -

Remove w201 accelerator from car (pull tab at bottom)
Remove rubber pad from w201 accelerator
Turn SLK pedal over and find the three holes at the bottom.
Cut the bottom rubber vertically through the center hole
Slide cut SLK pedal pad onto w201 pedal base
Secure bottom of SLK pad on base with zip tie
Put back on car.
[Compliments of Limited Edition]

Yet another convert to the "offical mod" :bannana:

I, however, simply removed the old accelerator pedal and replaced with the new one, rather than just transferring the rubber.

In any case, a very worthy mod.

Brian, nice howto. (with apologies to Shude who fitted mine for me and his tutorial)

Along the lines of this thread I wonder just how many members have the alloy pedals?

I do:D (but they were already fitted anyway:rolleyes: :D )

Slight Price increase!

Excellent upgrade did it this weekend (27/3/04). Thank you for the instructions they were really easy to follow.

Prices slightly higher for parts (but not much)

Brake A 170 290 01 82 £6.79+ VAT
Parking brake A 230 430 00 84 £3.78+ VAT

The gas pedal is two pieces, the outer rubber piece will also fit:
203
209
211
220
124 (although not perfectly)
170 (obviously)

I can vouch for the looks of theses pedals on a 124, Shude did mine (excellent job BTW) They just add a little more class. :bannana: :bannana:

Can anyone out there confirm that the pedals that you are quoting for the W211 series:
A170 300 00 04 Gas
A170 290 01 82 Brake
A230 430 00 84 Parking Brake
will fit a 2004 W211 E55?
I notice a lot of pedals on E Bay but they all exclude fitment to AMG series vehicles.

Yes, the E55 AMG is 99% the same as any other W211, I can't imagine the pedals are any different. If you can take a pic of the pedals and post we can be 100% certain.

AMG models tend to differ only in engine/suspension/braking/body styling terms, the electrical/interior parts are usually the same. I have never seen OEM pedals on ebay before, normally just fake AMG/Brabus pedals that require you to screw them into the existing pedal rubbers. The OEM ones are higher quality, a LOT cheaper and are also *road legal* :)

Pedals

Thganks for your prompt response Shude.
I will take some photos of the pedal arrangement in my E55 and post them.
You are correct in what you say about the E Bay versions.
I have never seen OEM Pedals posted for sale, but, rather the "screw on" style pedals "Screws included!".
What raised a red flag for me was that even these second rate after market pedals do not fit AMG Series vehicles. I took the time to contact a couple of the suppliers who all said in their posts that they would not fit SLK and ML series, but when contacted directly confirmed that they would also not be suitable for any current AMG vehicle.
Hence my question, as this would lead me to think there is a difference in the pedal arrangement over standard (non-AMG) W211 models.
Best Regards

Carl, if you check the part numbers you will see that MB models share a lot of their components, a gas pedal rubber or a brake pedal rubber doesn't need to be altered from model to model, the W202 c-class has no pedals of it's own, the gas pedal is from the R129 (90s SL), brake pedal from the W123 (80s e-class) and the parking brake pedal from the W124 (80s-90s e-class). The SLK inherited the brake and gas pedals from the w202 (like the rest of it! ;) ) and when they updated the pedals in the SLK to the "evolution" style, they are backward compatible on the other models too.

Your W211 e-class will almost definitely have a w124 parking brake rubber, w123 brake rubber and a w203 gas pedal assembly.

The fitment for the pedal rubbers is fairly easy (just hard on the fingers), you simply swap the rubber covers. No drilling or screwing anything, although you will have to release a pin on the gas pedal assembly to slide that pedal cover off/on.

If you struggle to order these parts then I could order them for you and post them. I have done this for several members before (and now when I ring the stealership they reel the numbers off without me having to tell them ;) ).

Good luck! :)

Shude, thanks for your advise and offer of support. I am an expat, originally from Lincoln, and return home 3 or 4 times a year, so I could wait until end August when my next trip is due, and collect them from MB of Lincoln against a prior order. I've dealt with them before, and the Parts Manager, Stuart is both knowledgeable and helpful.
The 6 hour time difference that we have has allowed me to talk to the MB Customer Assistance Centre in Montvale New Jersey, and they are advising me that I should go with the SL pedal system, (despite what I was told by my local "stealership", (I love that phrase), that SL 55 pedals will not fit the E55!)
I am told that to effect a correct changeout I should change the complete Pedal set up for the accelerator, which is part number 230 300 01 04. This is expensive as I have to buy the complete pedal assembly, at US$ 134.00 MSRP (UKP 72.43).
For the Brake I can use the SL Part 230 290 00 82 at US$ 8.75 (UKP 4.73), and the part you quoted for the Parking Brake 230 430 00 84 at US$ 7.75 (UKP 4.19).
Apparently the Part Number 170 300 00 04 will not fit over the existing E55 Accelerator Pedal. It seems strange, as I cannot see any real visual difference between the Gas Pedal on an E55 and a E500 that I looked at, but Montvale were adamant.
So, I can get the job done for a total of $ 150.50, but I can get a 20% discount through a contact, then I must add 6.75% State Tax, so giving me a total outlay of US$ 128.53 (UKP 69.48), plus some chafed knuckles in removing the split pin and pivot bar!
I'll hold off until I get a reply from you, as you may know something I don't know. See you at Manchester Airport one day. That is where I fly into.
Best Regards,
Carl
