I am so damn confused!

The W124 coupes and estates continued to be manufactured in Germany in 1996 for 4-6months after the introduction of the W210 series saloon AFAIK.

Seems the Ssang Yong W124 was built rght up to 2008 as the "Chairman"!! Take a look at this from Wikipedia SsangYong Chairman - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia It sits on a W124 platform and is styled to look like a 221 :D Might not rush to buy it... :D

Yeah, SsangYong have long had Mercedes chassis & engines, This engine look familiar?

that is correct, my friend has an R reg W124 coupe, it got the plate from the year it was imported to the UK

Doesn't always happen like that!

My 98 S-reg Smart was reg'd here in 99 so would have been a V-reg. They should be given the reg according to year of 1st reg from wherever it's imported from!

Long live the W124's! (in their original design of course!)

Anyone know if they are still making M104 engines anywhere in the world brand new?

It does not always happen but it is certainly what happened in this case.

The latest W124 i've seen was registered on a Y reg. As above, imports normally.
