I Feel Poor !

I wouldn't dream of telling people which tyres to put on their car. As has been said it really depends where you are in the UK and the type of motoring you do routinely. However in order that people make a rational choice we have to put to bed the idea modern winter tyres wear faster than summer tyres and that a car shod with winter tyres suddenly becomes difficult to control when the ambient temperature rises. The one area I will acknowledge is a noticeable but quite tolerable increase in tyre road noise which is a small price to pay imho.

1. Winter tyres all year round.
I ran on winter tyres all year round from 2005 until 2009, never really suffered because of it and the extra 2mm tread you need on winters can be run down in summer to prolong their life. I got about 45k out of my first set of winters (worn down to limits).

Well Thats her back from the service.....£803 ouch......though did get EVERYTHING done, including fixing the radio/rear windo heater issue, the trunnion bushes, air/fuel filters/charcoal filters/ transmission full service etc etc

no more 'extras' for at least 2 yrs so fair-doos......she drives like a dream and they even managed to get my mirrors to fold on lock (no memory seats)

overall, poor but happy...........boy did I hate that b150 auto loan car!

back to tyres, am I right in thinking you cannot put winter rears and summer fronts on at the same time?.........how about all-season rears with my (pretty new) summer fronts?
