I parked in two bays today...

I really dont understand the point of this topic. Unless the carpark is completely full then i really dont see the point of joining in on the idiocy of someone else, by performing the same action as him/her.

Yes its annoying, but learn to get on with your life. The world wont end if you dont react to small things such as this IMHO.

Hi,

I would happily park in a 'single' space....if I felt I could trust others not to 'ding' my car when getting out  ...but as I don't  ...I try to park on the (edge of) end of a line or out of the way or if there's space (i.e. car park is not full(ish)) I'll take two...ta very much :D :D .

Cheers,

i hate it when people try and make a point by trying to park very close to people, i have 4 children and need a bit of space to get babys and todlers pushchairs etc in and out of my car. i have no problem in doing what it takes to get my family in my car, mother and baby spaces are normally taken up by people with children who are at school.
just grow up and have consideration for other people, you dont know how the person was parked next to them, before you even come along

If anyone does that to me deliberately I whip out their valve internals with my Schrader Key, lets see them get home with 4 flats and no valves maybe they will think at little next time

I always park across two bays, but then i'll park as far away from everyone else as possible, and yes, to me, my car IS much more important than anyone else's and at 34 years old its not exactly easy to pop down the dealers and buy it new panels or bumpers when mine get dented or the lights broken (all of which have happened) its a risk i take from using an old car everyday, but then i make sacrifices to do so, such as walking in the rain the extra 200 yards from the empty bit of tesco's carpark or parking further from a high street in a quieter carpark.

Hang on a minute, it's only parking!

Ok, it can be an irritation but hardly worth getting over-excited about is it?

I'd hope that most of the more militant comments are merely bravado.

I would like to think that its still a 'free world'?? IMO, as long as your not being a complete inconsiderate t**t, and not breaking any clearly advertised laws, then park how you like!

This thread is my public and formal apology for parking in two bays at the gym last night. It is true, I - one of the advocates against "bay-hogging" - parked in two bays.

While on the subject of apologies, I would also like to apologize to the 7-series driver whom I parked about a centimeter away from (or, from his driver's door side mirror); thus forcing him to clamber in from the passenger side to drive his car out once he (eventually) got back.

Sorry to him, I didn't realise he had parked over two bays, and in an effort to park properly, ended up parking over two bays myself - ending so close to his car I'm sure he couldn't open the door! I only wish I had been there to see it!

ahhh... that felt good :D

You should be very careful parking that close, people often get very anoyed to the point that you end up visiting your local body shop!

I did think of that, but it's my W202, which is just a daily run-around... and already needs a visit to the bodyshop!

On the nearside, I need a new front door skin and a full body respray (a bandit decided to jump a red light...). The bonnet has "internal dents" (from when my radiator exploded, the viscous fan coupling is a common fault apparently), and my front arches need a respray...

All in all? The car needs a desperate visit to the bodyshop! That said, I'm still hoping I can get something out of the insurance company... and I don't mind if the car is all banged up; the things that really count are maintained!

I deliberately park over 2 bays in supermarkets, to prevent the usual imbeciles from making a complete hash of reversing in at astonishing angles and left steering lock to full right lock and back again.

The offenders, are usually (indiscriminately) old people. Then you get the busy rushed mums, who swing their cars in (copying their husbands) and misjudge the length-width of their cars, before opening their doors into other cars, to manouver giant baby seats and accessories out.

I agree that spaces are way too small, but I'm fed up with correcting small dents in the car where careless ignorant people keep pranging me.

My local supermarket considerately leaves some traffic cones lying around so I can 'close' the space next to my car when I park there. :D

It's been fun in the snow, as I have been inventing parking spaces due to the white floor!

How would you know if it was deliberate? Ever thought that large supermarkets do have CCTV........ ;) Also while whipping out their valve internals, I'd make sure that the owner doesn't come back in time to whip out your internals in retaliation ;)

Put it this way if I cant get in my drivers door it's deliberate and he'll have no valves guaranteed. CCTV yep but they are more interested in the in store CCTV. If the owner does come back he'll have to be a much bigger lad than me, either that or have a rottweiler, I wish they would come back then they DEFINITELY would not do it again.

This usally happens outside the gym with me so if they did come back I would suggest we went straight back inside and have a couple of rounds in the boxing ring, that would teach the inconsiderate T**ts.:D

I wouldn't rely on supermarkets having CCTV, 90% of em dont work and Tesco even if they have one which does work (Very unlikely unless its brand new store) wont release the video unless ordered to by a court anyway.

This works fine for you until someone harder than you comes along and gives you a kicking and then sets about your car with a lump hammer. Acting in this way is a downward spiral until the bully becomes the victim. There's always someone tougher and more mental than you.

Life works so much better for tolerant people.

I agree, but tolerance and patience are not 2 of my virtues when it comes to idiots, I don't take crap from anybody or suffer fools gladly life is too short.

If they want to act mental then as long as they keep out of my way we'll all get on fine, never started a fight in my life but I've finished a few ;)

Anyone who knows me will vouch for how easy going and freindly I am never violent (I'm getting too old for that now) but when it comes to idiots or inconsiderate people then makes my blood boil, they should have more thought for others. There's room for everyone on this earth to live in harmony.

I dont have a problem parking over two spaces in a pay & display car park in a 2 door coupe - especially when I had the Aston - I'd just buy two tickets as it was a lot cheaper & less hassle imho than repairing door dings.

No problem with parking in 2 spaces and paying for 2, its the people that park 3mm away from my drivers door that infuriates me:devil:

No excuse in my book. :D Went to B&Q today and managed to get in the middle on and unseen space.

What was odd though was the number of people parked at 45 degrees (OK 30) is some people's spacial awareness so bad that they can't judge parallel without the aid of a while line.

You sound like a legend in your own mind ;)
