Hi, I have a 2005 facelift c220 cdi avantgarde (not sure the W number). I have the CD Changer and the normal sinle slot CD in the centre console.

I'm fed up with my third party sat nav, looks untidy and i keep taking it out when i park up and everything.

I wish i'd gone for the COMMAND sat nav option but at £1800 it seemed excessive at the time.

My question is, does anyone know anybody who can get the current command version to fit to my car and also fit it for me so i have full functioning Sat Nav just like if it was factory fitted, and more importantly how much this would cost ????

Thanks in advance, Mike

You've written the (correct) W number under your name!!

OK, easy for me to say, as I bought mine used and it came with COMAND, but it really isn't very good. The updates cost £250 (the same or dearer than many stand-alone units now) and it can't do any added functionality like speed cameras etc. It doesn't do full post code look-up and it's a real novelty if it actually knows the address I'm looking for - I usually end up having to find in the map function, then get COMAND to memorize it and then switch to nav. Mine lags it's position slightly too, so instructions come a second or two too late - fine on the open road, but a pain in busy city centre.
I'd be disappointed if it had cost £500, but £1800 is just ridiculous.

I find the DVd based navigation to be very good. IT sounds like your unit may need coding which can be done for free by your dealer if your car is under warranty. The updated disks are indeed expensive but there are cheaper ways of obtaining the disks. At present it is possible to get the 6.1 version (genuine disks not copies) on ebay for around £90 - £130. Failing that you can order them from MB Germany for 250 euros.
