Oh and sometimes we wander if our indicaters have stopped working as they have been on for nearly a minute but yet all the cars in the middle lane stay there and keep coming past even though the outside lane is empty. got pulled once by a following police officer who thought i was drunk as i was weaving from the kurb to the white line on an a road. He was very understanding when I explained that in order to keep the brand new cars on my vehicle in an undamaged condition it meant I have to position myself on the best part of the available road so as to avoid the trees.

I saw that the other day. Well, actually I saw the opposite! A transporter full f brand new cars ploughing through a few low hanging trees. Made an interesting ca-thud type sound as it passed. Excellent news for the new owners!

Oh well,

Cheers,

Will

Hate to play the devils advocate here, but just because your signal is on, does not give you the right of way. I totally appreciate that this is annoying, but the old rules apply, you can't move until it's clear, regardless of how blissfully unaware other drivers are of your presence.

Another situation for you, driving down a dual carrigeway approaching the end where the 2 lanes go into 1. there is a lot of traffic in front and it is slowing, I start to slow and a car along side me pulls just in front, cuts accross then hits the brakes  I hit mine as hard as possible and notice her 3 kids in the back looking up at me  a quick glance to my left, thank fork there is nothing there as i cant pull 36 tonnes up in 6 ft!

Yes, I have seen this happen loads of times and I sympathise. One question though, would that extra car length have been enough to stop if she had not have cut in front? Presumably the other cars were slowing as well?

sorry for going on but there are always 2 sides to a story.

So true. I may even take GRAV888 up on his offer to go along for a ride. Or, better still, get my father-in-law to give me a lesson or two on an open airfield. (he's the MD of a HGV driver training school) At the same time I can open up the CLK and see how fast it goes on the runway. :D

I am in total agreement with you there, I do wait but it is frustrating, its the age old "dont want to get stuck behind a lorry syndrome" that plays the part.

1 extra car length?! no not really too much worry but she left 5-6 car lengths between her and the 1 in front and hit the brakes hard, left my braking distance considerably shorter, so in effect cutting my braking distance to possibly a sixth of what it was. and yes we were all slowing, i just had to through the extra anchor out and pray to the big fella to acomadate for my reduced space, he answered with a gap to my left
