Car and photo's belong to a good friend in a colder area of the USA called Nevada brrrrrrrrr   :D Apologies for sharing them with you all, but this man takes a very nice snap.

If only they built an estate car. :) :)

It's white...see my poll :bannana:

I must admit Nevada Jack always takes a good piccy and gets through some gorgeous MB's.

What was that company that did special conversions in the 80's - I remember seeing an XJS estate amongst others. Was it Mulliner Parkward? Anyway, you could always get one made to order.

They are gorgeous cars when specced right, I was lucky to drive one for a fortnight.

I wonder how much they cost out there, probably not much more than a mid range E here. $80K for an S350?

For the same spec ML as mine it's a few thousand dollars more so they end up paying virtually half of what we pay.:(

Can't pretend to take photos like that! They look teriffic!
Pity they don't do an estate, but if you get to use the wife's E class estate when you need to take the wolf anywhere you can keep the saloon (sorry sedan) for yourself.....
and mine does have the interior lighting and it is brilliant!:D

See your poll and you will see a picture of Jack's white S-class  :D

The very basic S-class 500 which I believe is a 5.5 ltr engine is $87475 the S63AMG is about $127,775

The US buyer can still travel to Germany for a personal collection and then drive the car to the designated port that does the shipping. I wonder if Europeans could buy the car from a US dealer, arrange a personal collection and then request not to ship the thing??

:) Japan sir,
I have no idea of the different taxes that might have to be added to any of the prices. With the pre-facelift E-class I was surprised at how many cost options were required to get this vehicle up to an Avantgarde standard. I suppose it is horses for courses.

On the US Mercedes site they have a very nice inter-active demo of the S-class including the COMAND system.

Going back to estate cars, it is quite difficult to build a 'one-off' vehicle although there are always exceptions to any rule. The Ferrari conversion I saw was very professionally done, but not my cup of tea. My favourite conversion was this four wheel drive jobbies:

I also remember quite a nice one, it was a Jag XJ6 Estate (XJ40 shape). My Dad wanted an XJ40 and was offered an XJ40 Estate, can't remember who did the conversion but it did look quite nice. It was offered to us by Jaguar House (main dealers) in Liverpool in about 1990, IIRC there were only about 5 of them.
