Firstly as this is my first post Hi to all, nice forum you have here 
As the title of this thread says I'm a Jaguar man, I always have been, I have a love of the XJ6 Series with the series 2 being my favourite, I have had a couple over the years and have loved them, I must admit to never even thinking of a Mercedes, ok I have seen them about and sometimes thought "Cor thats nice!!" but I have never been tempted to buying one.........untill now that is!!!
My girlfriends father phoned a couple of weeks ago and asked if I would be interested in buying his 300E for the grand sum of £2000, he was asking £2500 but he would drop £500 if we were interested, I know he had a Mercedes but I never took much interest in it, plus why would I want a big gas guzzling 3 litre?? so I politely said Thanks but no thanks.
A few days went past and he phoned again, "tell you what" he said "you can have the car for £1500", now by this time the girlfriend had been giving me some earache about us having the car "Just think how nice it will be" she said, so I relented and told her dad I would take a look at the car and maybe buy it from him, It turned out to be a J reg 300E-24 Carat Duchatelet with 80,000 miles on the clock and a full service history, full leather interior and a few toys to play with, so I said yes please and bloody glad I did an all, I totally love the thing, in the past four weeks we have done a thousand miles in it, I just can't get enough of it (even been looking on ebay for little extras, key rings, umbrellas and the like)ok so I'm sad!!!!
we spent a week in Devon and it drove faultlessly, it's so smooth and comfortable and it looks great, I'm still a Jaguar man but I have to admit I do love me Mercedes
