I'm a nervous passenger.

Later A. Green reveals he deliberately wasn't braking until he saw the instructors foot twitching :D

The fact he has the time and presence of mind to able to do that qualifies him in my mind.

Being a fast jet pilot probably helped a tad, they need to think a bit quicker than the average driver.

Yep im a nervous passenger except when the wifes driving.

20 years ago 5 of us were piled into a 1.1 escort,I was in the back in the middle,My T**T of a friend driving decided to swerve left to right down a single lane track at 70mph and lost it  we hit a tree and I flew out the back window and landed on someones gravel driveway a good 15m away.

The whole right side of my face was covered in blood and I thought my ear was missing but unlike the other 4 I didnt have broken bones. My face was one large scab and someone in a pub thought id had acid thrown over me !!

Ever since then ive been a trembling wreck and always think the worse, ive got some pics of the car somewhere, the engine was completely missing and looking at the pics you couldnt tell what make or model it was.

I recall they started with drag racing drivers but soon realised that actually, they needed guys with Fast Jet experience (in particular twin engine ones).

As are you Steve.

A wee drift gone wrong indeed.. could have gone a lot more wrong..

In my experience, recreational driving on public roads always ends badly.

My 18 year old niece drove me back from Bandung to Jakarta last easter having just bought her license. It is an experience I won't forget quickly.

The tailgating at 100mph with monsoon rain was bad enough, but the blase chatting accompanied by hand gestures and lots of looking in the rear view mirror to talk to passengers in the back had me pretending to be asleep curled up in fear as I couldn't watch anymore...

Aside from that, I'm a pretty relaxed passenger.

A lot depends on the driver.

A few years back I fell out of the back of the Sprinter (walking in the van, reading paperwork, and on my phone bo!!ocking a supplier) and badly damaged my ankle (Mrs Ringway saw it happen and still recalls how funny it was )

My then one-legged next door neighbour (he has now lost both legs) offered to drive me to hospital.

Filled with trepidation I declined the kind offer and said I'd call an ambulance (a lot of twisty lanes from Wilmslow to Macclesfield and I just didn't fancy being driven by David).

However, he persuaded me to go and his driving (there and back) was superb.

The problem when faced with a "terror express" is plucking up the courage to tell the driver to slow down. :o
