I'm out the 'lounge!

Well done on the sale John...love the W216, your new car looks a stunner:thumb:

Stunning car, congratulations . For my 50th ive promised myself something special carwise which incidently will be a 71 plate. Littel things!

Very nice car indeed, one of the best looking cars a man can find these days. Congrats on a wonderful choice you've made.

Very nice,I part exes my A45 for the same reasons as you John, don't regret it one bit as my c300h has more than enough grunt when needed and is brilliant on fuel as well as zero road fund licence!

Congratulations mate very nice, will be interesting to see if it not being a amg bothers you in the sense you lust after another once you have owned it for a while.

Simply lovely John - there's not much around that carries itself so well as a CL :thumb:

I'm officially out the AMG lounge! I'll hand in my pass on the way out...

The E55K has been sold... a sad day but time to move on.

My discipline in the speed department was almost non-existent in the end so I knew I had to change things before Her Maj allowed me the use of one of her lesser-spec'd rooms.

Replaced by?

Well it had to be something that little bit special but slower (or slow enough so I don't even bother trying - and it is working already) - so a change of direction was needed.

I fancied the S Class thing and tested one at the beginning of the year. S500 - was well spec'd with £20k of options but I just don't think I was ready to move on then. Having tried a Maserati Granturismo, BMW F13 6, run out Jaguar XF and W218 CLS350 - I decided to go for:

2013/63 plate C216 CL500

Congratulations jonh lovely car !
I am going to buy a cl in the near future but it has got to be a AMG .

I hear you guys on the AMG thing.

As things stand right now, I genuinely have no interest in another AMG.

Whether that is because I had the E so long, or whether I've just moved on either temporarily or permanently, I guess time will tell.

I can't see me ever changing though - so whilst I spotted a CL63 on aka$h's website in black and it did look amazing, and whilst the one for me would be the CL65, I know I would be straight round Acid's and running it as far as I did the E. Then I would be back to chasing/losing anything fruity again.

I've been the same for 23 years and whilst many probably grow out of it, I just don't feel like I ever will.

Some of us never grow up!lol

Lovely looking motor John:thumb:

I know you were after something more along the lines of a luxury cruiser and the CL certainly fits the bill. Top class:thumb:

Cheers all - nice to hear some other perspectives too. Glad the choice is generally approved of!

So after driving it for a while now - I'm absolutely loving wafting around in it and lording it up.

I'm being referred to as the CEO at work now. :D

The CEO could afford many many brand new fully-loaded CL65s so I don't feel the same - although her other half drives their E class which is well spec'd.

Although it is a fair bit slower than the E, it does shift when required. I can imagine a tuned CL65 is awesome.

It's quite nice driving the same roads I normally do and seeing things from a different perspective.

Other cars jostling for position and getting angry with each other.

I even let two people in front in a row when it was a "merge in turn" type situation - because I couldn't care less.

Only now I realise quite how stressful driving a fast car can be - at least for me.

I get home feeling more rested than when I started the journey.

Working well for the stress levels I have to say - glad I made the change now.

Wholly recommended!

John, I totally get where you are coming from and it's something I seem to suffer from when I own a performance car. I just seem to want to be ahead and making progress as people call it.

I have conquered any temptation on all roads upto national speed limit. From that point onwards I'm quilty of driving like I did in my twenties a lot of the time.

Like you I'm finding it stressful and my saving grace is that most of my driving is local now days.

It's for this reason I'm pretty sure my next car won't be another AMG. It will have power but in a similar vain to yours.

I'm glad your enjoying the switch mate.
