How much do you reckon a brand new inlet manifold would cost fitted for a C270CDi . I have been told my non acceleration / turbo not kicking in ( see thread below ) problem is down to a knackered inlet manifold that needs completely replacing with a new one. Any guesstimates ??

How can an inlet manifold get knackered ? Do you mean its got damaged somehow or split/perforated. I thought the only porblem they were susceptable to was sooting up due to the EGR.

Apparently some part has snapped off - think its the flap bit that opens when turbo is supposed to kick in.
Strange thing is though if it was broke why does it rectify itself and works when you switch off engine and switch back on again ??
Mind you it only works for a few minutes then its back to no revs above 3000 Sorry you can tell I havent a clue about engines ! - hence why i am consulting you guys !
Thanks

Common problem. The inlet manifold on the 270Cdi engine has some rotating flaps in it. The spindles of these flaps fall apart. However, you need to check that is not just the linkeage (that opens these flaps) that has fallen off the bottom of the manifold.

The normal problem is that you get a inlet air leak through the spindles, creating a lot of noise under boost conditions.

Cheers

Hmm, glad the 220 CDi engine does not have the same arrangement. Is there no way of refabricating the spindles and flaps, with the suggested replacement cost it must be worth evaluating all avenues. Have you tried these guys for MB re-manufactured parts
