Two random but identical ventilation fan problems in the last few days - for some reason it starts running ''superfast', ie faster than the maximum controllable setting, and will not respond to the controller. Set the fan to off and it carries on running at very high speed. OK better switch the ignition off - it keeps running. Come back to it 10mins later it's still running. Tried pulling fuses and suchlike but stopped short of disconnecting the battery. Gor for a drive with the fan controller switched off and eventually it stops after ten more minutes.

I guess I have a busted ventilation controller module, but it's wierd that it keeps running after I switch everything off.

OK it is a 14.5 year old beast and cannot be expected to be perfect but this is a new development for me. Anyone had a similar experiencse with a facelift S210?

I was searching recently for K40 relay related info and I'm sure a fault like yours popped up.
Something to do with an ECU cooling fan failing, causing the main blower to max. out. This little fan is apparent unnecessary in our climate; the fix is to unplug the single blue wire on the board, near the K40.
