- W124 E220 1996 2D Coupe
Hi people, thanks in advance for anyone who can help, I'm am absolute beginner so be easy!
I just bought my first merc, a beautiful 1996 2D Pillarless Coupe, E220, I have yet to receive the logbook so I don't even know whether it is a W124 or later version! Terrible I know, but the headlights are square not round so I think it's a 124!
I've fallen head over heels for it and would like to begin work as soon as I can, starting with the interior, I will get some pics up soon, but for now it has grey cloth seats and walnut trim. I would like to change the wooden trim, update the instrument cluster, have some chrome surrounds, new seats front and back, door cards, carpets and mats.
The previous owner was our family mechanic that we know well, so that's good as I know it has been looked after very well, engine wise, however the interior has taken a battering.
I'm probably going to redo everything apart from the roof as it's still really lush.
So, taking all of this into consideration, and I'm very sorry there is so much! I'm wondering where the hell to start, with a smallish budget to begin with. I'm going to be spreading this over a year probably.
Also does anybody know what kind of problems I am likely to face? And can I fit only Mercedes seats?
Sorry about the essay, I really would appreciate any input. Pics to follow, Thanks!
