Hi,
After many years absent form MB's I have just rejoined the club.
Previous was a R129 SL500, black leather and dark metallic silver. I still regret selling it as it was an effortless cruiser and felt like it was built from granite.
My new car is a W212 E63 Estate, dark metallic silver, black leather with no tints.
We have had the car for going on two months and as I get to learn about it the more I like it.
It had 2 previous owners and was bought at 51k from Masons in Hertfordshire which was a great experience.
The car looked and smelt like new inside and the outside is unblemished. It was and still is a London car.
It replaced a nice 2011 BMW (E61) 335i M-Sport petrol auto, that was black with brown leather. The BMW was bought to ferry around our Doberman and for UK holidays. We had it for 3 years and I bought it over an E-class estate and 5 series as I thought they where too big. How wrong I was....at 1st we managed with the BM but after a neighbour backed into it and I had a new GLE as a loan my mind was made up. Didn't fancy an SUV so went for the estate version of that car. The BM had a stage 1 engine map and stage 3 on the gearbox. It was a violent shift when in sport which could be tiring.
I had an RS6 estate some years back but that only lasted 6 months as it was a harsh ride, had a big drink problem and scared the hell out of my wife who refused to drive it. Suspect that was down to the stage 1 map.
The E63 is in a different league to them both, I love how comfortable it is and that it has several engine and suspension maps to choose from.
It's well put together and I love the luggage parts in the rear that provide various parts to help secure items in the huge space. The lights are amazing in the auto setting, I'not tried out the self-parking but will do and the little touches like the storage under the front seats just finish it off. And the black wheels...they had been on the list to get painted silver....but they hide the brake dust so much better that they are staying.
The chassis and dampers are brilliant, over Christmas it's been on M-A-B roads and I was surprised at how well it coped on the twisty A and B roads.
Very confidence inspiring car.
I won't be doing anything to make it sound louder or go faster, I already have a sportscar for that. But I do want Carplay and after reading the threads on here will reach out to forum member Richard who suggested to another member he could help out at his place/shop near Heathrow.
I only have the one picture of it for the moment, if it ever stops raining I'll take some more....
