Hi
I have recently upgraded my phone to an iPhone 6, however the SMS isn't working. I can receive calls and listen to music but no SMS. I recently had an android Sony phone and calls and SMS worked both fine. I connect via bluetooth. I have read all the threads I could find and have unpaired then paired, checked notifications is 'on' on my phone. I'm really puzzled can anyone help?
My car is a 2012 C class.

Thanks
Issie

I looked into this for ages and none of the answers helped me either, my iPhone broke and I temporarily switched to samsung and the sms feature worked perfectly....... until I switched back to iPhone :(

Does yout BT connection look like this on phone ? mine works fine on NTG4.7 Comand Online

You need to turn on the 'Display Messages on Lock Screen' feature on the iPhone for it to send the messages to the COMAND. You may have to delete the pairing and re-pair (so that the car learns what BT profiles the phone supports, as I don't know if the iPhone will say it supports the SMS over BT profile if that setting isn't turned on)

PS, its in Settings -> Touch ID and Passcode -> Notifications View

Well I never knew that (probably because my phone has always displayed messages on the lock screen).

Thanks Richard :thumb:

Hi
Thanks for all your replies. I've checked my settings on iPhone to all your ideas and all things were as they should be so have just unpaired then paired again and still no joy!
I can't believe it worked with my old phone. I've gone through every setting in iPhone.
Bluetooth, notifications, Touch ID, even went into messages and under SMS there is one that isn't turned on 'show subject field' as I'm not very tech savvy not sure what this is and if it would matter. Any ideas?

Hi
Thanks for the link, but I had already seen that and tried but with no joy. I'm trying everything I can find at the moment. Thanks again.

Hi
I've just had a thought, I'm not clued up in this area but could I take the car back to Mercedes and get a software update? Or are updates not available ? Perhaps my car is too old? Is there anyone who has a 2012 year car and an iPhone 6 connection WITH sms ? I may be trying to find the answer to something thats not even available.

I don't think its the age of your car, mine is a 2015, I bought it new with all the latest updates and I've had the same bother.

I have a W212 and iPhone 6. It's working fine with SMS. Though I've friends that have never managed to get it to work in their Mercedes.

Another thought is, in addition to the bluetooth notification settings is the SMS notification settings switched on?

Settings.. notifications.. messages.. Allow Notifications

I have the iPhone 6s and previously the iPhone 5, both worked with the W204 Coupe for reading SMS.

I have two iPhones. One of them connects with the car bluetooth just fine but the other one don't. What could be the reason?

That is so strange, that it seems to work for some but not for others. I'm determined to get to the bottom of this. Have you ever contacted Mercedes direct about this problem?

When we picked up Angie's 2015 SLK55 with NTG4.7 a couple of weeks ago, we arrived home and the Media Interface refused to recognise either her iPhone 5 or my iPhone 6. I reset COMAND (System Menu > Reset) and it now works fine.

A different intractable problem, but perhaps worth a try?

Thanks all again for replies.
I have checked the messages notifictations on iPhone and they are on and I also did a reset of the comand system. I'm a bit unsure about doing the Comand update myself, may take it to Mercedes and have them laugh at me when its such a trivial thing. Its just getting a little annoying now, also the amount of times I've sat in my driveway asking friends to text me every 5 minutes while I try new things out!! Not going to give up.
