So the CLK came with the official iPod kit instead of a CD changer

We have an old iPod classic and that works fine. Trouble is that its he main family one and it's wanted back in the house.

Plan B is to relieve teenage daughter of her 4s when she gets a 5s from us at Christmas.

Will that work?
I cannot test it without blowing the surprise (well I haven't succeeded yet)

Alternative is an iPod touch that I know is available, but would that work

Or

does it have to be an iPod itself (i.e.one that only functions as a music player)?

Advice or confirmation appreciated

4s should work
other option is get a viseeo WMA1000 (old stock) and then you can connect your iphone using Bluetooth.

the unit cannot be bought new so keep an eye out on ebay, don't bother with any other makes as ive tried and they don't work.

4s will work fine with it.

Best bet though is to get a cheap ipod classic, fill it with all your music and leave it in the car.

Thanks Alfie

I presume then the 4s would default to the music app when plugged in?
I don't want to have to keep going to it and manually selecting the music app.

I am keeping my eye out for a used 30gb classic, but ones that are still working and not being sold for spares or repair are sought after and going for £40 to £50

If anyone has one going for less than that, I would be interested ( will post in wanted just in case....)

Cheers

I have looked at BT from my Android phone, but am planning to get a viseeo mb4 when funds allow (needs tyres rear pads and an ATF change first) to get hands free in the car.

As phones cannot pair with 2 BT devices at once, I will prefer to hardwire the iPod / iPhone in

Cheers though

So... and update on this.

I bit the bullet and ordered this item as it has since dropped to £20 and if it didn't work I would have refunded it anyway.

I've connected it and it pairs to my phone fine.

The phone also paired with MB Handsfree System too and appears to be working.

The iPhone *does* support simultaneous Bluetooth connections so that's fine with me, Spotify and Apple Music works without issue.

Now this is what doesn't work.

The steering controls are no good as is the display.

It shows Please Wait and then changes to Error. However Music does play.

So there is no ability to change the track from either the Steering Controls and there is no track details on the screen.

So either have the playlist set the way you want it or control it via the phone (can do this from Lock Screen)

Shame the controls and screen doesn't work. But the music works.

Lastly the unit is always powered, (as that's how the car behaved with the iPod - maybe after 30 mins or so the car shuts it down (I'll find out next time I walk to the car) - I doubt the battery will die as its a tiny device and my iPod used to permanently live in there.

Not sure if there is much else to add.

I did try the similar BT dongles we have successfully working on the iPod docks in the house.
They didn't work on the car, and steering / remote controls are key to me.

Will try and get my daughters 4s out of hands for 5 minutes later today, else I am hunting down an iPod classic or two at the moment.......
