Spoke to the dealers today about supplying me with an iPod interface kit for my car. Tried to get a part number off him but he was very sheepish about giving anything away. If I bought the module elsewhere like on eBay would the dealer be the only way to code it? & there are so many different part numbers, so if I bought A2049000300 would it be the right one? Any way to find out?

Dealer price is £268+vat

Speak to forum sponsors Mercedes Retrofit Specialist - Comand.co.uk who can do it all including updating the vehicle's Data Card. Keep in mind that the iPod module gives you control over the iPod (via steering wheel etc) but only basic info. If you are looking for album art etc etc, best go for the Media module, if your unit supports it. The latter is the better unit, having had both.

Thanks. I contacted them a week back about a command upgrade. Got the price back for that was just wondering about another option.

Norte, that part number is the control unit for Media Interface for a small range of C class vehicles. You would need wiring , fibre, glovebox loom, brackets etc etc.

The Media Interface will only work with COMAND.

The alternative is the Mercedes iPod kit, which I suspect is what the dealer has told you is 268+VAT, that Comand Online sell for less

iPod kit controlled from instrument cluster and steering wheel, with limited info as GiantManVan says, and Media Interface gives you integration with the main COMAND screen.

Thats the iPod kit I posted, and its for pre MY2012 facelift W204 (i.e for W204 with the screen that opens up and closes), and the NTG4 in W212/W207

It won't work with NTG4.5 vehicles (W204/W207/W212 with "Comand with SD card" or "Audio-20 with Nav button")

The head unit is put in AUX mode, and then the track info is displayed on the instrument cluster and using steering wheel buttons you can select tracks/albums/artists/genres, but its fiddly. Nothing shown on the cluster.
No coding is needed to install this on W204/W207/W212, so its just disassemble, install, re-assemble.

The alternative is the Media Interface which works with COMAND only gives you complete control from the COMAND system, but will need coding with the Star Diagnosis/Xentry computer really. I recommend Media Interface because its great, but it is more expensive and harder to fit.

Media Interface is here: https://www.commandonline.co.uk/Media-Interface-C-class-W204-RHD.html

- The picture in there is the pre facelift and MY2012 version, things start changing at MY2013.

I ordered the iPod kit from commandonline and their service was excellent. Works really well in my W204 with Audio 20, was plug & play and took about 40 minutes to fit.

Is my audio 20 without nav an NTG 2.5 then?
