I have been looking for a A4 2.6 SE the estimator at the garage valued it at £1900 which isn't bad since I only paid £1400Looking through the Autotrader though they are more than £1900 Ebay is different of course but it is a High spec with just 98k and full Audi history so surely they have to consider that as well??
If the first offer is reasonable then accept it - messing around waiting for a revised offer (which of course could in theory be lower) might mean you missing out on the ideal replacement.
When it comes to value, the full Audi history may or may not work in your favour. Have you done any work on the car or had it serviced by anything other than a main dealer? If so, then don't push thefact the car had a full history until you bought it when you started doing the work yourself. They will probably argue that you have devalued the car - trust me these guys can be weasels. If you can prove that the full history was important to you and that you had every intention of having it dealer serviced then you may get a few more quid out of them.
They will look at book prices, they'll take into account Auto Trader but they will also look at eBay. Be polite, firm and best of all make friends with the assessor - he's the one who can make all the difference
