E350 convertible 2016
Newbie here! Car is 2016 e350 convertible. Over last few weeks when using my key fob I had intermittent message anti collision inoperative which I read could be low battery charge so drove for 10 mins and message went . Last Thursday message without changing gear consult workshop came up as I started car no warning sound and no check engine light I drove up and down driveway no problems but message still there! Used husbands key and no message at all. Replaced battery in my key fob and it was fine until this morning - same message no warning but car didn’t start - went indoors got husbands key no message and car started fine and I’ve just been out and stopped at 3 places restarted car and everything is fine! I’m so Hoping it’s just my key - can I get it checked anywhere except a Mercedes dealer! Thanks for your help everyone!

Welcome aboard as you are in Essex maybe Auto lock will be able to refurb your key they have a Wickford place and one at Great Dunmow,

Could just be the fob needing new batteries by the sound of it. Not sure how easy it is on a 2016 car? You tube could help you.
Changed batteries in fob on Friday and was fine until this morning! Just been and tried again with my fob and no message and drives fine - i blooming hate cars 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣🤣🤣

Update! Just tried my fob again and no problem - no message car started fine and drives as normal 🤦🏻‍♀️think need to get the codes read and see if there is a real problem and then see about getting key looked at! Would key problem show up in th error codes? Sorry but this isn’t really a ‘pink Job’ but husband has man flu!

My advice would be charge the main battery with a smart charger. It's winter time ,alot of draw for any battery . Then see how things go. A ten minute drive won't do anything tbh longterm.

Thank you! will do that too- well I will ask garage, not do it myself obv’s 🤣

Just strange it’s only when using my key and it has only happened twice since Thursday - tried my key again a bit earlier and it’s fine 🤦🏻‍♀️

Update - car went to garage today battery failed on all counts! Diagnostics done and cleared - new battery fitted so fingers crossed!

It's probably the original battery , so 8 years old . It'll be tired by now. I'd still recommend buying and using a smart charger, especially during winter time.
