I went back this morning. They had the same technician have a look. He says it’s fine. I then requested to go out for a test drive with him. We did. I showed him what was happening. We switched seats and it wasn’t happening. He set the steering straight and let go of the car. Car went straight. I didn’t test it like that. He said I should.
Point to note: he drove the car faster than I. He says if it was a problem it would be worse at higher speeds. I asked why was it doing it earlier when I drove with him in the car. He had no real answer. Went on to tell me mercs up to a certain time recently all moved left. He said if it was his car it’s not a problem as his own C class (last model before this) goes left way worse than my non existent (in his eyes) issue.
He said when he changed a/wheels he marks things up so he puts everything back as it was.
Driving faster I notice it doesn’t happen. Slower it does. He wouldn’t hold the wheel straight to test it as that’s not the way. He also said he wouldn’t have done anything that effected the tracking. I said told him just the wheel isn’t on proper straight. He says in his opinion it is fine. I was left being told to ‘monitor it’.
I’m left feeling am i imagining it, am i being over sensitive to it? Can the so. It’s the first thing I check when I drive a car and i am certain there is now a difference since the s/wheel was changed.
Also the rattle from the over head control panel, we both heard within seconds of pulling out of their car park! So it’s rebooked for that.
They told me they can send it for Tracking at another dealer but if it’s all fine it’s at my cost.
My original pleasure with them was falsely placed!
What did I expect, this is the Mercedes that told me last year my last c class’s brakes were worn 90% front and back. I went to a Indy specialiast who said they were fine. Those same brakes, a year later at the last service only the rears were apparently worn 90%...... still lol.
