That we/i can drive on Nice/Fun roads, police & Camera free, with lovely scenery?

I would love to be able to JUST DRIVE and not be worried.
Im real fed up with not enjoying the views, constantly looking for speed cameras, different speed limits and hand held speed guns.

P.S. Im not saying i want to drive fast/mad, i just want to ENJOY my topless car :)

North Yorkshire has no fixed speed cameras. It does however have traffic cops!! So please don't come here and speed just because you can;)

But in all seriousness if you look at my thread about Edna's day in the dales - the scenery and roads are stunning - no you won't be speeding - but you will enjoy! There are roads you can have a spririted drive on but there's always a risk one of my bloke's mates will be lurking - it's their job ;)

Scotland?

Lotsa lovely twisty roads, fairly deserted, quiet enough to enjoy the roof down :)

Isle of Man TT course mountain section has no speed limit and is beautiful to boot. long way to go mind.....

i got lost once... they had closed the M40 at coventry A46 junction and so without sat nav i decided to use my nose..
I went west to stratford and then generally went south.. i must have gone through 60 miles of beautiful country lanes & picturesque villages before i found myself back on the M40 near the M25...

It was a complete fluke and have no idea where i was..

driving the SL that day was the most fun i ever had with the top down...some lovely tight bends through hills... could have been in the alps!

Alfie, come up to scotland, seriously you will not regret it cut out England alltogether :D. I remember in another thread you and Mrs Alfie were thinking of coming up here to Scotland. Try heading up Glen Coe, then onto Mallaig, or head onto the Kyle of Lochalsh instead. Then get a hotel, explore the area and the single track roads, maybe even head to the very north coast of Scotland.

I think i would have to stop in Carlisle on my way up.
I have heard something about WALL LICKERS.
Have you any idea what its all about?:p

P.S. Just going to check if the Scotland meet has been confirmed, people were talking about it a few weeks ago.

We are talking on the .org forum of 1st June. Off thread here it would be nice to get the scots together (+ Alfie with his SL500 and anyone else who'd like to come up).

Alas I don't know what a wall licker is, we are quite normal up here, for the most part that is.

Interestingly the Lake disctrict may be nice for your to explore, and as Pammy said its not to far from N.Yorks to do a wee tour there. Are you working still or fortunate enough to be retired. This is something ideally for you and Mrs Alfie to set a week aside for ideally.

Not sure we need to know that! :o

:D :D :D

I would find with my convertible cars you actually tend to drive slower everwhere in cruise mode.

Each one however I have taken over the french alps and through Germany, so I can see what they are like.

MX5 was off the clock (import) at 120 and awesome in the alps
Z3 was a solid 140 roof down and I thought the wind deflector wouldn't survive the speed.
330 bm was on the limiter at 153 roof up but felt solid.

Not saying if thats kph or mph...but it was in Germany and at the weeee smalls.

Just not worth trying this now as camera are getting worse even over europe so...

Take it on a track day or Vmax type event.

Either way just enjoy cruising roof down :)

It even has HOT SEATS:p .

So you'll be fine up here. I have never seen the need for bum warmers personally, must be all the sunshine we get over here

I reckon you'll just waft along in that big comfy peiece of automotive excellence you have...

But if it was a German trip, 155mph would be order of the day :D
