Stopped off for fuel yesterday. Next to me was a beautiful '07 plate Alfa Spider 3.2 V6, just like this

Proud owner sauntered back from the shop and decided to drop the electric hood (I was still filling up). All going well until the final step - the rear deck dropping back down. This stopped all cockeyed ... one side down, the other still up by about 2". Mr Alfa didn't notice, adjusted his shades, and roared off.

5 mins later I left, couldn't help noticing the same Alfa pulled over in a layby 100 yds down the road with the hood up again and the driver looking rather less pleased with himself.

Should have got a Merc? ;) :D

Wow a full hundred yards without the need for help.

i have seen a clkw208 roof stuck in midair at the argos the woman had to jig it forward and backward a few times

Nice one.
she was jigging it with the buttons. press down and up like you do a stuck electric window.
it was comical.
no one knew if she was trying to put the roof up or down as she was in the car park and we did not know i she was going home or coming in for shopping

It was really just the fact that this was such a new car.

It makes you weep, doesn't it? How many of us wouldn't own an Italian car (or at least consider one) if the electrics were more reliable. And they were screwed together better.

Edited to correct incorrect double negative

Their design is certainly superb....but who is that chap from Udine who designed one or two Mercs...?;)

Best of both worlds maybe..:D :D

I had a drive in one before buying an SLK. The spider looks nice, but there is a lot of scuttle shake. The interior is a bit low-rent. It is not very quick for a 3.2 V6 - 4wd maybe saps power?

OK for cruising the boulevards.
