It has just occurred to me that I can't think of any major software that has worked perfectly first time, Apple and Microsoft take a pasting just because they are an easy target as so many people use them.

For years now mobile phone software (both handset firmware and desktop software) has required updating frequently.

In the last couple of months I've even been downloading software updates for "black boxes" under the TV (Blu-ray player and AV Amp).

I think a little more leeway should be given, think about it Mercedes has to update vehicle software and that is in a closed environment, computer software has to work for every man and his dog, can't be easy.
