Hi,
I need to change the front pads on my sons A-Class A180D (2016), nice and easy me thinks, done it a million times on all my other cars from fiats, fords to VWs. I can find the jack points no problem, but can I find where the axle stands go, nope, I've been looking at this ALL afternoon and have got absolutely no where. I've you tubed it, I've searched for it on the net and the only thing I found was that there is supposed to be a central jacking point just behind the engine, so you use this to jack the engine up and then you locate the axle stands where the jacking points are at the sides...nope, can't find the central jacking point either!!! The entire underneath at the front of the car has a cover, do I have to take this off first (I hope not, seems a pain!)? Please, would sure appreciate if somebody could shed some light on this very frustrating, but what should be a simple task!!

Welcome to the forums.

Look more carefully at the cover under the engine. You'll see a rectangular cutout with a hard pad in it, about the size of a small paperback. That's the jacking point and you can use it with the cover in place. The axle stands then go under the sill jacking points.

I'm making the assumption you're using a trolley jack.

Hi Stratman, thanks for the info, where is this elusive hard pad, I've used a camera underneath and couldn't see anything, it's definitely on the A class 2016? I take it, it is in the middle, in-line with the front wheels or just behind them?

Yes, I will be using a trolley jack, once I've found it (if I ever do), do I push the jack in from the side or the front?

Ah, used a selfie stick with the camera on the end so I could get right underneath the centre of the car, I think I've found it :). Not sure I'll get the trolley jack all the way underneath though, looks like you need one of those professional long industrial jacks used when they replace tyres! I could go out and buy a low profile jack but I'm sure it still wouldn't reach without part of the jack catching underneath?!

Try driving the front wheels onto a couple of planks to raise the car a bit, hopefully sufficient to get the jack under it.

Good idea, why didn't I think of that :(. Now I know where the jack point is and how to get the trolley under there, hopefully, I'll have it jacked up in no time...thanks for your help Stratman.

Thanks for the pic whitenemesis, the object you have circled (jacking up point) isn't as clear as that on the car my son has got, it's kind of buried under covering, so from the side, looking underneath the car it doesn't stick out, you just see a gap but you can't see what's in it. Using the camera, I found it, or at least I think I have as it does look from the bottom exactly like yours.

ooo not to high jack the thread but i'm getting increasingly frustrated with jacking points blocks at the side not sitting lets say nicely on axle stands.

I have standard halfords axle stands which i have had for years.

Anyone know of an insert or adapter for the jacking points?

Why not just jack 1 side up at a time and leave the jack in there to support the car?

My old trolley jack is too high for my car, i bought one of those low profile ones , they are the only type that will reach the front jacking pad before hitting the lower valance.

And the 'Hockey puck' inserts are a must when using jacks/axle stands and should be used on workshop lifts too, but rarely are.
