Jag

My parents have 3 jags (one better than 2 jag Prescott!).

my mother has a 2.0 X type. It's quite thirsty for the performance it delivers but with cream leather is impressive, and looks smarter than the similar age W203 I had. (the W203 was definitely quicker though!). So far nothing has gone wrong.

My dad has a older S type 3.0 something or other. It was bought cheap with a few bits and pieces to do. He has had it for about two years I think with no unexpected repair bills, and thanks to a Main dealer technician who is allowed to do his own work in the service bay on a Saturday, is rather cheap to service. He is supposed to be selling this one, but it never seems to happen.

He also has a 2003 XJ 3.0. I've been in it and it's a fantastic car to travel in. I can't imagine an S type of similar vintage being any better, and if it's Petrol probably would struggle to get the 35 mpg that he achieves.

Having said that he's a Jag man. I prefer MB's, although Saabs's are good too.

*** - we need to discuss at the next GTG. I'd swap my E Class in a heartbeat for a Jag. :)

superb stuff. I saw a jag for £1k the other day. I'll bring it along for you :bannana::thumb::D

It still go legacy rubbish Ford in it.

I read this thread from the start because I thought it was a wind-up but no, clearly some members actually seem to believe what they write.

I suppose that's one drawback when everybody uses keyboards - takes a while to spot those that probably couldn't manage joined-up writing if left only with their crayons. :)

I just read this thread as well and I have to say that some of the comments are proof that someone somewhere is still carrying out experiments on live human beings.

What worries me more is whether the experiments were purely on the brain. If not god knows what these people look like:D

Miopyk:cool:

Simple. Not everyone can afford a Merc. It a nobility to be a merc owner. I am the only Merc owner on my street.

Nope. Still don't understand.

Jason, quite apart from the crap you expound, it's the way you write that winds me up most. For God's sake slow down and write so that we can at least understand your points. Most of your posts are sheer gibberish. The language most people on here use is English...yours is what?

I really can't see how owning a Merc makes anyone superior to anyone else. A car is a personal choice, we all have different tastes and there are many makes and models from which to choose according to our requirements and tastes. I drive a Merc, and it doesn't make me better than anyone else, I like driving it and I'm very fond of it, but I don't drive it thinking that it'll make me look and feel important. Anyone who thinks a Merc is terribly exclusive is now mistaken. I could go onto ebay or autotrader and come away with a nice, usable Merc for the same money as the average family car, and as a result Mercedes are nowhere near as exclusive as they once were, which in the main can only be a good thing as it means there are more of us to enjoy the manufacturer's cars. The argument about not wanting a Jag because it may share Ford components is irrelevant. More likely than not your own Mercedes will share a part with a Smart fortwo or A-class, and if we apply the same logic then this must surely make an E-class, CLS, whatever it may be, a cheap car just because the manufacturer shares parts. Sorry, I don't see the logic, and this is not intended to offend the OP, it's purely expressing my opinion.

Hand up those in agreement Jag and Ford are craps.:p

Mercedes-Benz. Are they the company that fit van engines in their cars?
Heaven help us if they ever used a plastic cap on an electrical socket from...
