Just bought W212 E63

For me it's the S211 with M156 engine, there is something about old skool that I like, the feeling is really special 🙂 🧡

That does look really nice, think I might go down old classy benz once I had my fun with the w212

Looking at the photo I can see you have chrome trim to the front spoiler. Just wondering if you purchased an E63s? E63s delivers more power over E63. The odometer should say either E63 or E63s. Calipers will be red colour too and the seat belts are of a silver shade on the E63s. 🙂

It a regular e63, to be fair I am tempted to get rid of the chrome trim on front 😅. But for now in two minds about it

I had a w212 E63 sold it earlier in the year. It was amazing fun. I had only had one issue with air suspension compressor pump but that was a minor issue as I do a lot of inner London driving. I had that changed at brooklands as part was on backorder but no issues otherwise.

Other than that its a great car!

Congratulations 🎊 👏

I have one and I love it but also love my m156. They are two different animals. I decribe the m156 as a bit of a hammer. On the m156, it's all about wear and tear to the top end. Minimal catastrophic failure as long as problems addressed.

On the otherhand, the m157 equally has its own design flaw, being the conrod, which can be catastrophic and expensive to put right. Take care not to push it to the limits and keep within safe parameters. If you take care of it, it will take care of you 🙂

Agreed, I bought mine 5 years ago @ 50,000 miles, now on 120,000 without a serious issue - was only thinking today whilst driving to work it's been the most reliable & probably the best car i've had the pleasure to own.
As others have said, keep up with the maintenance & you should have no issues - enjoy sir..!!

Just managed to get a video of the car running with the open bonnet before catching a train to work.
for my own stupidity and reassurance 😂, are they meant to sound like this?

Couldn't get video in here so, somehow managed to upload on youtube and post it there, here's a link

Based on the two W212 M157-powered E63's I owned, yes. They certainly wouldn't win any prizes in the "mechanically quietest engine at idle" awards ;)

I ran them for around 75k miles in total and I agree with @jonboyE63 that reliability of the whole package was excellent and that they were probably the best cars I ever have, or ever will, own. It's almost five years since I sold my last one and I still miss the combination of luxury and drama. Hope you have lots of fun with yours.

😂😂 "mechanically quietest engine at idle"
That's definitely true, my first M157 and just making me paranoid.

Other than this sound, everything seems fine and drives fine. Few days ago had a blast through tunnels and just kept smiling.

Thanks for confirming that they don't sound the most pleasing, I've came from the W205 4.0 which sounds completely different on idle.

Did you ever take it to a specialist regarding the issues?

And thank you for this info, i'm looking to buy an E63 soon and want to be wary of some passing off cars as an S when they aren't actually!

Look for the Affalterbach crest on the front head rests and an AMG S in the speedo cluster.
Some owners like to let others know they have the cooking S and paint the calipers red and add the S badge on the boot.
The above, and the seatbelts are the giveaway.

Of course, if you view the car, get the Vin# and put it into a decoder like mb.vin : VIN Decoder for Mercedes-Benz and that will tell you whether you have the S or non S.

Thank you sir! I know it's not an 'S' but I'm giving this car serious thought, it's been for sale quite a while, and I'd rather buy from a dealer than private in case anything went wrong.

Can I ask your thoughts on this one please and if the car is known on here?

Thanks in advance

Thumbs up from me, looks like it's well kept. The estates are always slightly rarer. Can't make any comments on price though but as a guide I paid £31k back in Oct'22 with it being fresh and only 25k on the odometer.

Since then I had done a few subtle changes, Vossen wheels, h&r front lowering springs with camber bolts and links to the rear. Stock tune and tinted windows too. Very happy with purchase. 🙂

I'm consideting parting with my S w212 with 40k miles as I'm hunting for an s213 e63s. 2 owners including me, comprehensive maintenance schedule , iPE valvetronic exhaust (gbp4.4k) fitted by msl, 360 camera , night pack, panoramic roof etc etc bigger breaks than standard, lsd, intelligent led adaptive lights , brand new battery. Aftermarket android auto and Apple CarPlay. Auto watch ghost, front and rear dashcam thinkware f800 pro.
Totally stock, dynoed while doing exhaust by msl with 630 hp and 840nm torque using their 1.18 drivetrain loss multiplier. Always get van drivers talking about the car when stuck in traffic on the motorway next to them.
