I bought this car for economy its a c220 cdi auto coupe and general A and B Road driving gets me about 510 miles to a tank. How are you guys doing?

I'm very well, thank you.

Unless you're just asking W204 C220 CDI members with the same size tank, the question is meaningless. I can get over 600 miles to a tank from my car — and if I had the optional 80 litre tank instead of the standard 70, I'd be getting close to 700 miles, but that's probably not as good as your economy as it's a bigger, heavier and older car.

Sign up for an account with Fuelly or Spritmonitor and you'll be able to track your consumption and compare with similar vehicles.

OK, so what do you mean by "to a tank", as you're not running it totally dry? How much fuel are you putting in when you fill up?

Your car (a 2012 W204, judging by your other posts) has a 59 or 66 litre tank according to the manual, with an 8 litre reserve (the point where the light comes on). If you have the smaller-sized tank and fill up the instant the fuel light comes on, you're using 51 litres for your 510 miles, which is 45mpg. I'd say that's not too bad for mixed driving on a new, tight car. At the other extreme, if you're running the larger tank to within a litre of dry, that's 65 litres for 510 miles, which is 36mpg, not quite so good. That's why your "to a tank" question is meaningless: there's a big difference between those two figures.

However, both figures fall sensibly within the spritmonitor histogram of others' records (from the "compare" link in my previous post):

Simba, I've just done the first full tank on my 2008 S204 C220, 510 miles from brim full to 1 notch under 1/4 full, 58.1 litres to refill, so about 39mpg. Like you, I'm a bit dissapointed, I was showing 45+ on the trip meter of my S203 C270.

On average I'm getting around 650-700 miles from my manual W204 c250cdi. Best so far during the first 8k miles is 730 but this included around 500 of motorway cruising. With summer tyres and taking it easy, I guess I could squeeze 800. My trip shows 56.5mpg from new but Fuelly shows the real stats based on brim to brim.

I am due to fill up today so i will put up the exact figures i.e. cost to fill up and litres of fuel.

Probably anywhere from 700 The best range it ever said was 1000 miles !!!

Space saver tyre on from Dover to Chester @ 56mph.

Car has a long range tank.

I am averaging 49.6 mpg over 44k miles of driving mainly motorways with my E220 Cdi. this average is improving with the warmer weather with 52/53 easily achievable. I would have thought your C class should be able to do this.

I am also keeping one step ahead of the Tanker drivers at the moment just in case they go on strike. I went for a long drive last night to make space in my tank then filled it brim full, they won't catch me out again :bannana:

^ Gulp, £120 ish to fill up and only 350 miles.....

'11 C220 Cdi Sport. Last check (a couple of months ago and new car/engine) and long motorway runs were giving mid 50's to the gallon without trying.
Average over 5k which includes local etc is late 40's.

I did look at it accurately when the car was new just to confirm what it was doing, but don't bother now as its as good as I expected.

Average 250 miles in my E55 Wagon, onboard computer says 16.9 mpg
