After reading all the positive feedback by you guys on the SB i got one off ebay for my C55

It landed today and after a bit of headscratching on how to get the accelaerator pedal off i fitted the Sb in about 10 minutes.

Bloody hell!!!! what an immediate difference:bannana: the pickup seems much faster and the whole attitude of the car has gone more aggressive. i like it alot.

I do seem to be driving alot faster:o and seem to have done a few wheelspins setting off, This is a wonderful piece of kit.

It seems like there is more power in the engine, i know this is not the case but it does feel it. Defo worth 150quid and anyone who hasnt got one yet, what are you waiting for.

a gentle right foot and youll be ok.............not sure i would tackle it with walking boots on though:rolleyes:

Welcome to the sprintbooster club. One of the best and most effective mods to improve lag on MB's. My mate has a C55 fitted with sprintbooster and you are quite right vastly improves the already powerful beast of a machine. Enjoy.

Does fuel consumption go up at all with this mod? Just thinking that it must open the throttle a lot more for the same pedal position, so consumption must be higher? What have you noticed?

Theoretically the fuel consumption does not change, what does change is your driving habits as you enjoy the faster response, if you accelerate as you did before then nothing will change.

Yea...as if ....if that was the case everyone would have their boxes in C mode and not S mode....I think if one has a performance mod one uses it so yes in reality fuel consumption would increase....

How have those who have had it added found this??

My consumption has increased slightly  :D ;) especially if using the SB lots ;)

I'm having one fitted to my E55 this week

Despite that Evotechnik post (I'm a regular on the forum) I know a number of people who have them fitted on a variety of cars, and nobody has any complaints :)

If Television gets one I am getting One.

I was thinking of installing Sprintbooster also, then I read this: http://forum.evotechnik.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=12116&d=1200489876

now I'm not so sure

This is not a bad report and confirms most of the things we already knew.
I'm guessing that it is written in the States where most of the cars are programmed already like a Sprintbooster. The US taste is to have cars which have huge 'launch' (as that part of the throttle response is known in the trade) and it is often the case that there is little or no additional power from 60% throttle onwards on 'Yank tanks'
From my very first W124 auto it has always been clear that Mercedes took a very 'mature' approach to throttle response with a long and linier feel.
My feeling is that is why the Sprintbooster has such a strong following amongst Mercedes owners.:)

Does it?
I don't agree.

What he didn't test was the change in kickdown characteristics:rolleyes:

I'm happy with mine:rock:
Well if I had bought one I would say the same, as long as you know where your kick down points are, you can do without it

If you want to press your foot through the bulkhead, yes.
Try one Malcolm, you will be surprised.
Next gtg, I'll let you try mine on your car.

Well thats an offer I could not refuse :) thank you.

My only thoughts reflect back to when I first test drove a 230 SL500 and it did feel slow compaired to the SL320 that I was driving at the time. OK I know how wind the 230 up now

Ive seen that report and still bought the device.

I am a sensible level headed person not open to hoping my puchases into worrking.

If i didnt FEEL any difference then i would say so.

what i am DEFINATLEY saying is the car responds much quicker, drops gear much quicker and feels alot stronger.

It feels as improved as my 335d did after my remap and that had a proven dyno increase of 50bhp and 90lbft torque. Although im not suggesting that power has increased at all. The car just feels like it wants to bite chunks out of the road when you press the loud pedal:rock:

Im going to get one for the ML:devil:

As far as I am concerned, any merc that I own would definitely have to have one fitted after Ive bought the car.:D

I have had mine for the last year, and changing lane when you need that instant response is one of the major benefits that I have got from this unit.

It also makes me smile when the car takes off :)

If after spending the money you're happy with the result then it's money well spent, regardless of a technical paper that suggests otherwise.
