Just for fun....

I had a 323f about 6 years ago, cracking little car for buzzing around town. My mate bought it off me when I got rid of it now has 150,000 miles on it starts first time everytime and not a spot of rust ;)

I'll let you know what I think hopefully later in the week. My local dealer has one I can demo.

It's not in the league I would like it to be in - ie German, but in that price bracket, it looks attractive (well not literally, that's one comprimise!).

I have previosuly looked at a Scooby STI, but 1. that is very "look at me", the Mazda 6 MPS is not, and 2. the inside is very basic. The MPS has electric seats, cruise, xenons and lots of other creature comforts I am used to. One thing that put me off the TT.

If the interior is less plasticy with it could be a winner, but that and general build could be it's downfall I expect.

I am taking it for granted with 256BHP, 300lb torque @ 3000rpm (torque very important to me after I was so unimpressed by a 330i) a 6 speed box and intelligent 100:0 to 50:50 all wheel drive with an LSD on the rear axel it should be fun to drive.

Only time will tell. Not sure it even fits in my company car grade yet, but looking at the price I should imagine it's close.

I gathered. ;-) One post ought to cover it though.

If it were that simple every thread would contain very few replies. I'm justifying my reasons that's all. The fact Toyota outsell Mazda 3 to 1 in each class should tell you enough.

People will always buy cars that are average as a compromise - some people just don't think of as car as anything more than a mode of transport - that's fine - but I like to think we're passionate about cars - and can differentiate between good cars and the likes of 323fs. You'll be telling me a Fiat X1/9 was a great sports car next ;) (well it was in concept)

We are agreed about that! Sadly, a local stereo install place I knew once bought one and spent tens of thousands on making it a "show" car. Hmm.
