Just got a 2001 ML270 and in love!

I have a lovely silver ML270, 2001 model. It's my first Mercedes (apart from a P reg C class company car about 15 years ago!) and I absolutely love it. It needs a few bits doing to it but I'm hoping that's where you guys can help.
I'm a girl by the way and don't know much about cars so I hope I don't ask too many dumb questions- I do research my queries before I ask so hopefully not.

We had an ML in the family a few years back, we had some engine problems but I did like to drive it. It never got stuck, even towing lorries out of the mud. A very capable car.
