Hi all,

I have just ordered my new C220 which should be delivered end of June, the salesman has offered me gap insurance and another care product for £1500 extra. I was told the other care product is that they fix minor scratches and dents, also repair scuffs on my allows up to 10 times.

Would anybody recommend me going for this extra as £1500 does seem steep to me?

Thanks in advance for your replies!

Hi and welcome :thumb:

You'll get Gap cover for less than quarter of that for a three-year policy if you shop around. Try your motor insurance broker. No need to pay more than £300.

thank you very much mate i think il just leave it from mercedes then, cant wait for the car ive been driving Audis since ive passed!

You'll love it. Audis are all well and good, had a Coupe GT5S myself years ago. Guy at our place had his new A5 a year ago and wants shot of it. Says it's too sterile an experience, not 'involving' enough.

And MB's come with indicators too! ;)

I did take Gap, MDI (minor damage insurance) and the star guard from MB

However I did not pay for them as I negotiated for them to be thrown in free as well as some other upgrades.

I was qouted £399 for GAP from the garage (return to invoice). I have just bought full replacement cover with a year defered for £179. I presume it will be a liitle cheaper for a C220.
Most insurance companies will replace a new car within the first 12 months anyway so it's a good idea to buy a policy you can defer for a year, no point paying for something you could have already.

You are spot on about the new car replacement on most motor policies. Gap cover is 99% better off bought from a 3rd party broker. Dealer mark ups are stratospheric!

Thanks for all your replies, i have decided to take out the gap insurance from car2cover at only £159 for 3 years, beats the dealers quote of £1500! Also you guys were spot on as insurance would replace car in first year so i have deferred the gap insurance to start a year after my car is delivered :)

Thanks for all your help here, now just getting impatient for the car to arrive!

Great news on the GAP Cover. I'll bear that company in mind for the future.

Hope you enjoy your new motor!!
