Just purchased Mercedes Service Plan

I didn't realise that Mercedes offered service plans on cars older than 6 or so. Is this backed by Mercedes or a local thing offered by your dealer?

They have started doing so -

Amg service care now covers cars of any age - Whichever model of Mercedes-Benz you drive*, Service Care provides you with comprehensive cover and plans can be taken out on new or used vehicles whatever the age.

I lament the passing of ServicePlus, served me very well on my 203.

My dealer is discounting hard for my 219 but its still cheaper to drive 160 miles to my trusted indie.

Hi
Service plans
A couple of questions:

The service plan, a yearly service or the on-board systems advisory?

If it's yearly, I am hoping to do less than 5k miles per annum as a weekend car, still looks like worth the prices for the brand new GLE 250d being del April.
On-line quote for 4 years is 36 quid a month.

From memory, spark plus every 2 years and brake fluid and 4th year gearbox fluid change? And some filter changes, ie other than the oil filter?

All help appreciated.

PS: Anyone managed to get some discount on their service plan?

Even if you did 500 miles, it will be triggered as a yearly service.

I think you can get a bit of a discount before you pay for the car.
I paid for the car, the sales person forgot to ask me and couldn't retrospectively discount the plan.

Now I can't seem to get a discount despite some haggling. Which leads me to believe MBUK frowns on discounting and dealers have to oblige.
(Price fixing??) any one who did get a discount pleases step forwards :)

Ironically online there actually is a discount code box!

Took out a 4 year service plan in November 2013 on E350cdi Coupe @ £29 pm

Spark plugs are every 4 years. The ATF change seems to be almost random - I think (but am not sure) it's at 5yrs now.

One snag with very low mileage is the Mercedes ESS (Electronic Service System) that the dealers use - similar to this: Mercedes-Benz ESS may not bring up work at the right intervals and you'll have the devil of a job getting the dealer to do it if it's not called for.

ServiceCare is cheaper if taken out before the car is 12mths old. Discount code boxes always annoy me as I feel I'm missing out, but I can't recall people saying they got a discount. Sometimes there are offers where it's free for a couple of years, especially on used cars.

Hi
Thank you all, very helpful.

I will aim to ascertain about what will happen every year service wise if I did do the low miles, ie when plugs, other filters, ATF etc are changed and if happy with that, make a little attempt to negotiate a service plan before I pay, visit to pick up our car.

IMO, if my low miles mean I will not get the plugs, ATF/etc changed by the 4th yr, no worth it - may go for the stand alone service

Thanks again!
