Karcher K4

I recently bought the K4 premium from the outlet (I think the only difference is a hose reel) and am really pleased with it as I already have a K2 and some accessories.
It does cost less from there but the warranty is only 6 months which I extended to 12 for an additional £11.

The standard Karcher warranty is 24 months. Why do you think it's only 6 months?

Probably because you don't get 2 years if you buy from the outlet, which sells end of line & refurbished stock.

I am returning this hose as it kinks really easily. It cannot be used with the reel due to this.

Exactly. Only 6 months from the outlet.

Fair enough for refurbished stock, but end of line should still have 2 years as it's new.

Wouldn’t that be new? :rolleyes::dk::doh:

How can unsold stock, a few years old, be classed as new? How many dealers have had it in their stockroom and unloaded it to other dealers before it was sent back to the distributer to go onsale at the outlet, whose sole function is to make something from stock that might have ended up in the landfill site?

It’s still un-used though?

Is it, has it been used for demonstrations, loaned out while another is being repaired under warranty, used to swap parts to get another customers working? Who knows where it's been or anything about it. No wonder the outlet will not give the usual 2 year warranty.

I don't know what they do to refurbish them but they look as new. Everything has always arrived boxed unused for me.

It might be new, but the fact that they don't know where it's been, or it's history, is the reason it only has a 6 month warranty instead of 2 years.

I'm pretty sure it said refurbished. The old stock often has a description e.g. slightly scratched, marked etc.

Scrub that. I'll keep it as it works well and I can live without the reel TBH.

Was this a rubber-type hose? My Karcher hose has a plastic feel and it's always annoyed me. I've seen rubber hoses advertised on ebay and always thought they would be better.

It is more rubber like than plastic (original hose).
I can't use the reel as the bend radius causes it to kink but in use and pressurised it is fine.

I purchased a Karcher K4 Full Control unit on sale from the karcher outlet on ebay on Monday for £75 delivered listed as refurbished. It was delivered the next day by DPD for free and looked brand new. I then tried my luck and registered my new unit with karcher via Twitter, they asked for the serial number and other bits which I provided. They replied stating I was now covered by the 2 year Karcher warranty and even sent out a free Dirt Blaster which is a easy £40 + part :) I sold my Karcher K2 the following day after 5 years solid use for £35 again which I originally purchased from the karcher outlet store for about £40. Personally feel very lucky

Definitely don't be put off by the refurbished Karchers

I've got the 10m from them and it's been brilliant - I had to hack off the yellow casing from the end that fits onto the reel connector and other than that it's been perfect and goes onto the reel perfectly?

Did you hose have the same Kiam markings as the advert as that is what I received and it hasn't kinked on the reel on my few year old K4 Premium EcoLogic? Maybe the reels differ between generations?

I was always having to move the K4 about with the factory hose but this makes the job a lot quicker for me as the hose is long enough now.

Might go for one of these. The plastic hose is driving me bonkers!!
