Karcher K4

I have had a nilfisk for 5 years of which i bought for £70 and it has been great, i bought an extended hose and a snow foam attachment and it works a charm.

If you find yourself wanting to try something other than Karcher :D
Ive been thinking about the nifisk they get good reviews.

Bought a Nilfisk after my Karcher pump failed, very pleased with it

Disappointed with my K4 as it does not have a telescopic handle so it is not easy to wheel around.

Been using the K4 for a few months now washing two cars every other weekend and very happy with it.

The hose is short but have just got used to it I've had a longer one made up which I'll fit at some point.

If I had a Nilfisk I wouldn't be disappointed either but I haven't used the more recent models.

It really depends what you fancy and want and I think with any brand it's neither here nor there with there life expectancy if just depends on how there used.

My Dad has had a K4 for a few years but cares more his patio than his car and it's been fine.

I think when buying a pressure washer go cheap, quiet, and with a decent amount of hose and you won't go far wrong :)

:)

Just not true, see post 3, when 3 items leak when brand new and straight out of the factory sealed packaging, you know something is very wrong with the way they're built and quality control. I wouldn't even look at a Karcher anymore.

Well I don't know I have two K4's within the family (dads and mine) and both are fine plus a Karcher HD7 and HDS745 and for me the one that has been scrapped is the Nilfisk which I have a spare hose and gun for hanging up in my workshop plus several guns I have had to repair sitting in a bucket waiting for there turn again to be used on the Karchers.

Not disagreeing with you my experience just differs but if I had your experience I would probably have the same stance as you :)

The only one that gives me any jip is the old HDS 745 where I have had to strip and clean the pressure switches fix and oil leak at one of the connections and it has recently started blowing fuses every so often but it has given well over a decades worth of daily service and is scheduled to be stripped, cleaned, resealed and reassembled.

Oh and the Vax for blowing nozzles every now and again.

K4 update, has anyone had a problem with the hose blowing off the main body?

I detailed the car the weekend and the bloody the kept blowing off no matter how i bent that poorly designed clip so in the end i cable tied the clip which done the job.

I'm going to fabricate something a bit better later this week or when i get the chance anyway but was wondering if this has happened to anyone else?

The only subject that brings out the zealots more than Karcher/Nilfisk is the Apple/Android discussion.

My K4 has done sterling work over the last 6 years and has had a couple of small repairs in that time, total cost €50. It cleans 1000 sqr metres of patio twice a year out our Greek holiday home and a couple of cars are cleaned regularly. I did have a K2 and the K4 is a much superior piece of kit, which does have a metal water cooled pump.

You pays your money, you takes your choice. If you want to own a Nilfisk, great, if you want a Karcher, great but you're probably not a complete **** if you buy either.

iPhone all the way.

I love my K4 it has more than paid for itself cleaning my car, the missus, my mates, the patio, a few mates cars when they want them done and a couple of neighbours patios.

The amount of work it has has i thought something should have gone sooner however that connection is absolutely piss poor and more annoyingly failed right when i needed to rely on it most but that's always the way.

I had a quick mooch around and found the metal "upgraded" part but can't really see that lasting much longer.

I've had 3 Karchers over the years. All of them started leaking. Had the first 2 fixed @ 50 sqiddly diddlies ea, then they both started leaking again. 3 (K4) one is sitting in the shed. It's a 40 mile round trip to my nearest service center ☹️ so thought I'd try something different. Went for Nilfisk this time. Comes with the hose reel and 9m hose. It's been 100 % reliable in the 2 years ownership. D130.4

Android 🤭

Something like that.

If you can wait 3 weeks (I'm offshore tomorrow ☹️) I'd be more than happy to strip the K4 I have in the shed. Let me know 👍

😳 You cleaned your missus with a jet wash? I hope you scrubbed her all over with a stiff-bristle yard brush too. 😁

PS 1000m2 patio? That’s huge!
