Big shout out for this outfit that gets a fair slating from time to time.

I had to change some bulbs in my car this AM and it was chucking it down with rain and couldn't face standing in the cold and rain trying to wage war with the 204 retaining clip for the dipped beam.

Why is changing a full beam bulb so easy on this car as it clips in and out, and the dipped beam a complete hassle where I find no other way of fitting the bulb without removing the clip?

Took it there, fitted them, no charge whatsoever. They sort of know me due to having used them numerous times with their Hunter machine for my last car and getting tyres fitted and rotated, but still good on them.

Having to use a garage to change bulbs tsk.....

I was forced to do the same on a company Laguna. First bulb vanished into the undertray = me having had enough!

The dipped beam mechanism is a load of baws on those, the main beam ones are fine but this is a proper PITA although it took the guy about 3mins:fail

We have Quick Fits all over the place and every one I have used have been great, bulbs, tyre fitting etc. Can't knock them!!!

You should try changing dip beam bulbs on an r171!

If you're willing to remove half the inlet system plus a few other bits and pieces, and if you're ambidextrous and double-jointed you MAY be able to reach the driver side one. The other side is totally impossible from under the bonnet.

The only real way is front wheels off and remove plastic arch liner!!

The access is easy enough, its confusing why one bulb has a different carrier system to another. The clip in mechanism for swapping main beam bulbs is really easy. This retaining clip mechanism is very poor.

Some of the Audi's you have to remove the whole front bumper, madness.

30 seconds on Volvo remove a lever behind head light and whole unit comes forward, pop off back change bulb push back in replace lever, simples :thumb:

Volvo have learnt then. There was a model year of the V70 which was another bumper off job...

There was indeed my T5 was a front end strip down to change the bulb, and the frequency at which they blew I suspect the dealer got really peed off keep changing them :D

You guys have it all so easy .

On any of the 1950's/1960's models ( Pontons , Fintails , Pagodas , 108's/109's , 114/115's ) you first have to remove the chrome trim from the front of the wing ( usually one screw ) , then remove the headlamp unit from the wing ( another four screws which were hidden behind the chrome ) then , holding the headlamp unit in one hand whilst trying not to drop and smash it , undo the bayonet cap from the rear , pull off the wiring connector , undo the clip , take the dead lamp out and put the new one in then reverse everything , taking care not to disturb the headlamp adjusting screws which just run in rubber mouldings as you go .

Easy !

Isn't there some EU regulation now that simple things and basic maintenance you should be able to do at home.

There was a period from 2000-2007 that cars were a nightmare to change bulb for most cars it was a dealer job.

Most new cars are 2 mettle clips and the headlight is out.

When I were a lad you had to watch that you didn't set fire to yourself whilst putting the candles back in the lamp holders.
