So, i'm considering getting my tyres changed at kwik fit in the near future, and they have the option of getting the alignment checked for 23 quid. The car is approaching 140k and is likely to have never have had the alignment checked before. Is this worth having done, and indeed at kwikfit? Does the mercedes front setup usually require something a bit more than your usual spanner monkey?

Thanks in advace!

I wouldn't let them near your car as far as alignment is concerned. Best go to an indie and get proper 4 wheel alignment. Also look elsewhere for a company called wheels in motion as they seem to have an excellent reputation.

Agreed re kwickfit. Personally I wouldn't get them to do it nor would I get tyres fitted by them, and generally they are quite expensive and you could get a far better deal and a better selection of tyres if you ring around your local tyre shops.

Regarding alignment, it really depends how far you want to go with it. If you want just simple tracking done, any half decent tyre shop can do that and it won't cost more than £25...its just a case of adjusting the trackrods, but if you want to to go all the way with 4 wheel alignment with camber adjustment etc, then you are going above the £100 mark and have to go to a specialist such as Wheels in Motion.

I agree re. Quickfit.
I've used them in the past and will not do so again.
My local independent garage does my 4-wheel alignment and balancing.
Not cheap, but you get what you pay for.

I guess the requisite laser kit is in widespread use now; that's what you're looking for, plus more competence than you will find in certain High St chain shops.

If you tell us roughly where you are, you may get further more-specific help.
