Hi all new here and enjoying my C220

I have a huge euro trip planned for September and want to ensure I have the latest maps. The COMAND says it's V4 2011 so I'm guessing that this is not the latest release.

I'm off to :France>Switzerland>Italy>Austria>Italy>Switzerland>France>Home

I'll be speaking with dealer this weekend as they said all updates would have been done before it was released to me as it had to have a service B before I collected it.

Thanks in advance

Latest version is v14 should be available at you local MB dealers for £99 inc vat

If the car is less than 3 years old, MB should update the maps for free - or correct their error is it was not updates before its 3rd birthday! MY2011 onwards comes with 3 years free map upgrades.

Mine will be 3 years old in November

I'll check with them tomorrow cheers

Cars been in today for the map update, took them 4 hours

collected car after service had closed but maps version is saying the same V4 2011

Service manager is going to ring me Monday as there was an accident in the service bay - their fault but nothing major

They said it was done and it would take then a few hours, I'll speak to service manager when he rings me to apologies for the cracked front window they are going to fix.

all my saved destinations had disappeared so I'm guessing something was uploaded.

I had my COMAND NTG2.5 maps updated today. I went from V4 (I'm guessing from when car was made) to V12 (Service tech told me this version was about 1 month old).

I posted screenshots in another thread...

Whole process took about 3 hours, including the complimentary car wash/valet.

Even better was that I only paid the dealer £35 as I had a voucher to use. :bannana:

S.

*EDIT* Note: I don't know if the different versions of COMAND have different map issues or whether they all use the same map versions. What I do know is that my NTG2.5 upgraded from V4.xxx to V12.xxx.

Apologies for the cracked front screen.....a replacement screen? really? you want to be telling them that the next service is on them. It'll take a few months to decide if they have done a good job replacing the screen.

Yeah screen cracked at the bottom corner

No big deal accidents happen, they held there hands up
I've had it before in previous cars where they have fine something similar
And they have refused to accept fault

I'm more concerned with them so update as I'm heading a 3000 mile euro trip soon

I think they have just updated comand snd not the maps but will check on Monday

Can't understand if they have done a map update why it would still be saying V4
I work in IT so know when software changes happen that version numbers should some a change if s cite part had been updated

Don't forget to obtain your carnets/vignettes for Swiss & Austria if you intend to use their autobahns.

They haven't done a map update. They have done a firmware update most likely (as that often resets the saved destination list)

If you let us know whether yours is a facelift (fixed satnav screen) or pre-facelift (open/rotating nav screen) I can tell you what is the latest map

Cheers

Ok, V4 2011 means you have a facelift car. This uses a map disk for updating the internal hard-drive, but needs a VIN specific PIN code to prevent illegal copying. For the first 3 years after 1st registration the Mercedes VeDOK database will generate PIN codes for free. After that they cost money.

If you bought the car when it was under 3 years old it should have been updated (well, really it should have been updated at service every year or two, or when the last owner asked) - it looks like it has never been done.
If your car is over 3 years old, i'll leave it to you to persuade your dealer to pay for the map update PIN code that should have been done during routine servicing

Richard knows everything about COMAND, and probably more than most dealers. His advice/information is always the best.

I'll just add that you need to be wary about what other members say is the "latest version" because invariably they're only quoting for their COMAND, which is more than likely a different model (usually NTG2 instead of NTG4). But even what seems to be the same COMAND model can actually vary between Mercedes classes when it comes to map versions.

If you bought your car from a dealer they should have ensured it had the latest map version. It should have been updated free of charge during every service in its first three years. But as you've found out, it takes a long time, during which the service bay is unavailable for any other work, so many dealers aren't too enthusiastic about doing it unless the customer specifically requests it.

Your car should definitely have a much later version than V4 2011. My 2012 C350 was updated at its B service this March to Europe 2013/2014 V9.0. I would expect yours to be at least that if it was serviced just before you bought it. Your dealer should update this for nothing.

Get it sorted and have a fantastic trip. We did something similar last year and it was amazing - especially over the Alpine passes :D And don't go charging through Switzerland and Austria on their expensive Autobahns, set your up-to-date COMAND to direct you via toll-free roads and enjoy the beautiful countryside. :thumb:

Cars in garage in the morning for map update

We did a trip to monza for the F1 last year in a Saab 9-3 TTiD with hirsch upgrade which was fun but really looking forward to this big trip

Thinking I might get the Celtic remap before we go

Car was back in garage today and now has V10 maps
they realised that the car last week had Comand updated and not the maps
