what is the actual bhp/torque as some show 367 and some show 347.

what is the 0-60 figure and quarter mile?

what can one do to tune it, apart from the remap where im guessing you only get 10 bhp?

what sort of prices are the brakes etc?

what is the actual weight of the car?

thanks for that just techinical specifications on there, so it says 5.4 to 60

what other info do the owners here have?

My w208 CLK Owners manual says 347PS which translates to 342.3BHP :)

HTH

Yep - as Howard says, 347PS. 367 was for the 209 CLK with no viscous fan etc. The main attraction to these engines is the torque though - 510Nm, they pull relentlessly through the gears - really strong.

0-60 around 5 and a bit seconds, 1/4 mile around 14 seconds at just over 100mph. But due to the massive torque from the 5.4 V8 it's the in-gear acceleration that is more impressive ;-)

No point tuning them.

Brakes around £500-600 for discs/pads at the front (parts only) but these are AMG specific so never going to be cheap. They stop well though :)

These are quick GT cars, not sports cars - around 1500-1600kg from memory but highly specced as standard  Aside from the rust issues and 15-20mpg they really are great cars and very cheap these days.

I would recommend one 100% - you won't lose in depreciation now and if you buy a good one they are a performance bargain - around £60k+ new and available for under £5k now if you look around :thumb:

thanks, theres hardly any proper info on forums about these cars maybe cus they are so rare or so.

im guessing exhaust filter remap header would take to maybe another 30 bhp?

That's crossover year , is it a 208 or 209 ?

Great.................... :wallbash: :wallbash:

No, really I would agree with all the above. Fuel consumption can be altered by use of right foot, otherwise brilliant.

I love mine...............

I know what you mean as we both bought around the same time!

No regrets here either, always better to buy the best car you can find in the first place.

Autotrader has both 208s and 209s around the same price. Other than the 208 being better looking, is there any compelling reason to go for one over the other?

The pillarless design of the w209 is a big plus for some people

Personally I would stretch a little further and go for a w209 - I have owned a couple and they are absolutely amazing with fairly reasonable fuel consumption given its a 5.4 V8! The difference in price is fairly minimal unless you start looking at the facelift which came with significant AMG factory upgrades. I have a friend selling his 2003 CLK 55 AMG - he is looking for around the 7k mark with just under 100k in Silver but I know a deal can be had. Unfortunately the time has also come to let go of my facelift CLK 55 AMG which is currently on Autotrader and EBay

Not having owned a 208 that may well be the case and I have to admit that I haven't really driven much in rain as its only used for leisure on weekends etc...

Has anyone had problems with the CLK 55 W208 auto box. Mine has been sitting while I was stuck in Lagos. Now I have rolled it out of the garage the auto box has slipped out of drive twice. Any ideas on where to get it sorted and how many arms and legs it will cost?

Where are you based?

As above the 208 is definitely the better car from a handling perspective
