I yesterday used my w 202 c280 v6 facelift in dark for first time and noticed the main light switch was not illuminated. Should it be and is it easy to fix chaps ??? cheers, Tony.

Seriously ?. That's amazing. Oh well everything elase works perfectly well so won't complain, cheers.

Hi,
I have seen it illuminated on one very early model of 202 before, but it is the only one I have ever seen indeed. IIRC the Haynes manual even shows how the illumination bulb is changed.
There was a thread where this was discussed a few years ago, and I think the conclusion was that the early 202's used a 124 pt. no. light switch which had the illumination, and these were replaced with a non illuminated.

Wasn't the Haynes manual just showing how to change the foglight bulb inside that switch?

IIRC correctly the pic showed the bulb holder at the back of the light switch, if it was the fog light "on" bulb it would of been from the front of the switch.

The plot thickens.. On my 203 which came originally with halogen headlamps the light switch only illuminated the very centre of the knob and foglamp positions (when on). When I retro-fitted xenons and changed the light switch, everything was illuminated (except the foglamps, until switched on).
Bit like some 203 models have illuminated ventilation thumb wheels, some don't, no logic to it and nothing documented either..

Crazy Germans!! :)
