How easy / difficult is it to install Linguatronic in my W164. It has comand and all the phone stuff so I presume it's not too much of an effort but I'd be gratefull for any help.

Thanks:D

Hello,

Normally a ML (W164) with comand and phone has linguatronic as a standard on the car. ( In Belgium they have )

My posting of W169 / W245 modifications clearly shows voice control being installed.

It follows the same guidelines using car specific parts.

- steering column cover
- stalk
- switch with voice capability
- panel cover (small piece)
- voice module

- instruction CD

- fibre optic cable(s)
- or MOST joiner
- wiring harness for voice control (usually W203)
- wire splices for joining
- tape

- installation
- software activation

Fair enough, is it worth all that work, and that's is a lot of work. Though I have every known extra on my SL, I think if I had to part with one, linguatronic would be the first to go.

Interesting - I have almost every known extra (apart from distronic and roof-bar preperation) on my SL, but I added it to my wife's ML (even though not a UK option) and I'm pretty close to adding it to the A class "commute car" as-well.

Most of the parts go into the steering column.

The optical and wiring parts live adjacent to the phone module. Usually in the A, B, CLK, E the power is taken from the phone harness as per factory. A quick inspection of the wiring for the ML would be needed for verification of the fuse allocation.
